Front rim/tire recommendations
Hello all!
I recently installed 15X8 Summit Fast Five (Pro Star knockoffs) on my car with 275/60 15 drag radials. Now I'm looking at the front wheels and am wondering what recommendations people have? I'm torn between a 15X4 rim or a 15x7. I rarely drive the car other than to car shows and the drag strip. I've heard some stories of the smaller (185) 15" tires blowing out or not being able to deal with the weight of our cars. My goal is to use a skinny front tire but I'm not sure how skinny.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Front rim/tire recommendations
I have 15/7's on the front and 15/8.5's on the rear. Personally I think a 15/4 would get lost in the wheel opening. You didn't mention what car you have specifically, but with my chevelle's factory flared fenders anything less that 7 in is to skinny IMHO.

John,
1973 Chevelle SS454 and I was wondering too about the wheel/tire getting lost due to the large wheelwells.

Current front's are the factory 14X7's with 225/70 14's..

Here's what mine looks like, front are standard offset, rears are reverse offset.

Re: Front rim/tire recommendations
For a street driven car, I wouldn't go smaller than a 5" wheel. I've done the 15X3.5's on my 78 malibu and my 70 Nova and they are not the best for making turns.

Re: Front rim/tire recommendations
Looks like your 275/60/15 drag radial is about 28" tall, if you went with a 205/75/15 on the front it would be around 27" tall, a 75 series tire would fill the fender opening.
