Identifying GM Headlamps
Recently I parted out a '75 Monte and a '77 Monte.
They were both low mileage cars and I still have the headlamps from them both. The '75 is the single round while the '77 is the dual rectangular.
If these are original GM headlamps, what markings should be on them?

Re: Identifying GM Headlamps
I believe the glass would be marked T3 or powerbeam. IIRC T3 was for earlier cars, and power beam would be this vintage car.

Re: Identifying GM Headlamps
I know the round ones from the '75 had powerbeam on them, and I think all 4 of the ones from the '77 had T3 on them.
Have to check later when I go down to my shop.
I thought there might be other markings/labels?

Those would be oe lamps. My '60 olds still has all four of its original T3 headlights...and they are pretty darn bright for being 54 years old.

Re: Identifying GM Headlamps
Factory OE '76/'77 square headlights will be marked GUIDE 2A (low beam) and GUIDE 1A (high beam).
From my findings, the round headlamps for our gen of cars were Powerbeams. Think the T3's were for earlier years (as John mentioned).

Has a chance to check them out more yesterday, and that is what is on the rectangular ones, GUIDE 1A and GUIDE 2A, so guess these are "working" factory installed headlamps!
The round ones have Powerbeam on them, might keep them for my '75 el Camino.
Wonder what these rectangular ones are worth? Have the full set with mounting and out stainless all in great shape.

Re: Identifying GM Headlamps
The 1A's seem to be readily available in the junk yards for obvious reason...high beams were used far less than the low beams. Much more difficult to find original 2A's. What are they worth? Probably not much as few people are looking to maintain or restore their '76 and up cars right down to the correct headlamps. Still, I've kept a set for my original Monte just because I wanted to keep it as original as possible.
