Well Hopefully soon, I have been fighting some health issues since last September lost job because of it (gastrointentestinal issues) I finally get that squared away with Meds rest of life, Then was looking like I could go back to work when released from Dr care, and wouldn't ya know Life happened back to back. Was taking garbage to curb and a bag fell out of wagon I bent down to pick it up, stood up aand felt pop pop in my Left knee was paralyzed where i stood till she got back from taking kids to school.
Well 10 minutes later im in ER having my Knee xrayed yup POP POP = two fractures I am currently 5 weeks now on Crutches with another 6 to 7 weeks to go before I can walk with out sticks yet SO its all on Hold so I can learn to walk again without crippling pain .......
454 will be going in the Second one, I think now. I was gonna put it in the original One BUT Started thinking that would be the better one for my Daughters Graduation Still up in the air though, I have to pull the 305 out and at the least freshen the gaskets it has sat for 3.5 years before I got it and with all the crap my body has put me thru in the last 20 months between almost having my Leg amputated from 2 bouts of celluitis and then intestentinal issues then the dang Fractured Knee, So all together total time from Previous owner and Myself its sat for close to 6 years....
About the Only gasket on Motor and trans that hasnt started to leak are the head gaskets LOL
I AM I WILL GET THIS DONE

That'll be interesting, but it looks like a buttload of work -- I'll be interested to see what mods you have to make.

I have everything to make it Functional THE BIGGEST part will be smoothing the Hood line where it doesn't get covered by the scoop also have to switch gas pedal assemblies for the actuator for the flappers is on the gas pedal

Okay, but aren't you looking also at closing up the pre-existing vent slots in the back of the hood? And if it's going to be functional, doesn't that require messing around with the hood's underside bracing so the air comes in the right place? That seems like a lot of work to me -- not necessarily a bad thing, just more stuff on the to-do list.
And THEN you get to do all the actual bodywork.

Well, okay, that certainly avoids the vent slot issue (and looks good), but then if you're not right up against the windshield, don't you lose the high-pressure air effect you're after?

Will lose some i do believe but where it stops is about where all the Cowl hood scoops stop is about the same spot

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
That looks like a lot of fabricating to me. Not sure what the benefits of it would be other than the cool factor. When Chevy came out with the cowl induction hood, they spent loads of money to figure out that the area at the bottom of the windshield and the end of the hood was dead air. By putting the scoop at the end of the hood and close to the windshield the air would then be forced forward into the scoop. If you don't mount a cowl scoop in the same manner, you're actually not taking advantage of that effect.
Just my two cents sir.

The Z/28 scoop does stop before the hood vents also and Looking at the bottom of hood that is what will determine where the scoop will live I want it as Close to the windshield as possible ........ And I can do this work while still on crutches to a point so why not get this project out of way while healing then can switch to the finish the 454 completion once fully off crutches.

You're right Limey. I forgot about the vent just in front of the windshield. Are you putting the 454 in the first or second SE?

I haven't decided yet either way it just a bolt in thing just like the scoop so its very reversable

Some things in life are well worth the wait! That will be really neat, love hood scoops that are functional. All should be. Will look forward to seeing this, what a conversation piece to add to the already great story of the end of the Chevellle name plate. We the G3 boys share in your excitement. Mitch
