Unusual '74 Cutlass Salon
Here's an oddball I found today...a '74 Salon 4-dr with floor console/shifter setup.

Cool Car! Too bad it can't be saved. I have an add for that featuring the console and calling it a sport sedan. Is there a 455 in it?

I get their marketing of a "Sport Sedan". Further effort to appeal to the upwardly mobile Buyer who was starting a family and having a hard time leaving the muscle cars behind in lieu of a more family oriented car. Just found online a production numbers of 4-dr Salons were around 12,750 that year. Number of "Sport Sedans" had to be a small fraction of those.
Regarding the engine size...the hood hinges were stiff and so I just raised it a few inches to peek under the hood to confirm the engine was still in there. But, didn't pay attention to which one it had. I'll check next time I'm out there.

Does it matter? It says 'rod knock' on the window, and I'm willing to bet 'BM' stands for 'bad motor' in this case.

Could also mean Bowel Movement...as in the engine took a dump...lol!
Tell you what...if I was looking for comfy bucket seats, these would be it. I believe they also reclined.

My grandmother had one of those she bought new in 1974, I tried to buy it from here in 1980 so she gave it to a cousin! I ended up getting a 1977 Monte Carlo instead.
