oil pan
guys,
I'm starting to gather parts for a new motor. I came across a deal on this pan, I haven't bought it just yet. I took some measurements and it will hang below the front cross member 5/16". I don't really like that. I have kissed the skid plate a few times over the years. Anybody have any issues with one below the cross member?
Look at the Q&A on the link. Someone on here?

Re: oil pan
I would stay away from deep pans. Try a pan like this. To me scrapers and windage screens are more important than a deep rear sump. And if you have a longer than 4" stroke, the FRONT end of the pan is more critical to crank windage than the rear sump.

Re: oil pan
Thanks for the input Ray. Do you see any problems with this one?

Very similar to what you listed but has a different screen set-up. Nothing against Jegs, I'm 5-min from Summit.

Re: oil pan
Nope no issue at all. I like Summit myself for everything. I'm a Summit Pro Shop member, it was the just the first one that came up in a search, and it just gave the idea I was after. Summit USED to have a pan package that came with that pan, pump, pickup and gasket I think.

Re: oil pan
Thanks for the advice. Yes, they do have it in package form. The milodon pan I listed is on the scratch & dent shelf for 50% off. I'd go for it if I was mainly going to race but I don't like the way it hangs down for the street.
If you guys ever get this way to the store give me a shout a day or 2 in advance, we can meet up.

i ran the competition products pan kit in the 73 worked perfect in it.

if you do end up with any fabbed pan make sure you clean the crap out of the inside of them, they are full of slag and crap.
