Wiend 177 on built 350
i wanted to put a 177 wiend or a 142 seires on my built 350 chevy in my 73 chevelle, it is the stock block but it has been machined, hot tanked bore and stoked 30 over and was hot tanked twice. my ? is have any of you done this to the G3 year blocks? can the blocks handle it? i have lots of other mods too .248 cam, polished and balanced new 350 crank, comp cams lifters and oversized valves, heads are 2.02's

Re: Wiend 177 on built 350
Well alot of things come into play here. How much compression are you running? What Cam? Forged pistons? What Rods and Crank?
A 177 blower wont put out a lot of boost if you want it to put out alot of boost it will have to be overdriven alot. We took a stock 89 Iroc 350 and put a procharger with non-intercooled 10psi of boost at full. Not the smartest thing but hell it held up for 2 years untill we put the procharger on something else. But that Iroc is still daily driven and the engine as never been apart. The 89 350 had 9.5:1 compression ratio at full boost that would make the compression 15:1 which can be limited or increased by the camshaft.

Yeah you need to find a local machine shop and speak with the boss there to find out what your going for and what you need, have you considered what rear end ratio you are going with.

Re: Wiend 177 on built 350
really a stock block is good but if you want to make it stronger buy the splayed 4 bolt main caps they will help strengthen the lower end alot. Then run ARP rod bolts and Main Studs. To handle the boost run a good metal head gasket or Permatorque MLS by felpro will do good and ARP head studs.
