Re: Side trim for middle of body
Don't mean to discourage you, but it's near impossible to gather together a factory set of body side trims in good condition. Have kept my eyes open for same for many years and have only found a couple NOS and one nice used pcs as spares for my Monte Carlo. Scoured many, many dozens of Chevys in the area JY's with little success. To add to the confusion, there are a couple variations I've seen; most likely, some were dealer installed aftermarket?

Yes that's why I linked to the NOS one on Ebay but I'm not sure if this is correct for the lagunaman car.

Re: Side trim for middle of body
If I recall, I've seen the NOS one on a '73 base model Chevelle. Here is the style I think was on the '75/'76 Lagunas/Malibus. This one has a removable end pc so a person can substitute different colored rub strip inserts. I have the other fender molding and both qtr panel moldings with brown inserts. Also have about 3' of just the black insert I salvaged from damaged door moldings from when I was trying to help another member some years ago.

Re: Side trim for middle of body
I found the following usage details of part 6258054 on oldsobsolete which typically has more precise application details IME:
Chevrolet 1973 – 1975 Chevelle with body side moldings,
Chevrolet 1976 – 1977 Malibu, El Camino, Monte Carlo (A) except Malibu Classic Estate Wagon (AG-35) (fender side lower).
GMC 1973 – 1977 Sprint with body side moldings.

Re: Side trim for middle of body
I know for a fact that the NOS ones posted are not what were supplied on '75-'77 Monte Carlos as Oldsobsolete states. I've got a '77 with factory side moldings and have a couple used pcs I pulled from a '75 that match the ones on my car. Regardless of which style, it will not be easy finding a full set.

Re: Side trim for middle of body
Just found my exterior parts illustrations for El Camino and Chevelle/Malibu. It confirms part number 6258054 for the fender side moldings. The other part numbers are 8707809 (Doors) and 8706502 (Qtrs). Here's a Qtr panel NOS on e-Bay:

Re: Side trim for middle of body
Looking in the parts manual for 76-77 I don't see that part number so I have to agree. I see door guard trim part 8707810 for 29 and 35 styles, 8707809 for 37 and 80 all with the caveat w/body side moldings. The caveat generally means a significant fraction did not have it. Is some of the confusion due to the various types fitting the door correctly but not the year/model type?

Re: Side trim for middle of body
I honestly don't know where I'd start when trying to put together all six moldings. My experience searching thru numerous JY's is 1) not many cars had the side moldings and 2) if they did, some or all were usually damaged. And, finding NOS moldings could take years to accumulate; especially, when the old reliable one-stop shop (e-Bay) has fallen out of favor with so many parts Sellers/Buyers who used to frequent the site. Aftermarket might be the best route to go.

Side trim for middle of body
We deleted ours when painting on 77 Malibu Classic went with the Laguna paint theme. Have most of the chrome but no center rubber bumper, reason for deleting also. I think we are missing only one end that slide on/off by drilling rivet.

Re: Side trim for middle of body
One of the rubber bumpers I have may be the right length for a door molding. Can you measure your molding with the end caps in place and let me know what the length of the rubber would need to be? Maybe together we can get Lagunaman five of the six moldings he needs?
UPDATE: Never mind...I just held that rubber bumper against a door and it isn't long enough.
