I have a friend that can do the machine work, so it's really just the pistons and new blower pulley that will cost me anything. Hoping to do the entire swap for less than $600.00.

If you make your deadline, I say you should jump on the dyno challenge during the Power Tour & blow some people's minds.

I should have done it last year! I only saw three people the whole week that put up bigger numbers than 525RWHP.

Its hard to get a car with 525 RWHP that will be able to drive a 1,000 mile trip. Of course if you dont hit the NOS button that makes a differance. JB

We put 3,800 miles on that car in 12 days. Only problem was a busted headlight and a broken speedo cable. I was VERY happy, especially considering I was still putting it together the night before we left.

Whadda you guys think about some 3.42s?

Gotta 700r4, pushing around three hundred horses, wanna cruise mostly with the occasional kick when I need it.

PS- Anybody ever change over all of the speedo stuff in the tail shaft??

I've got 3.42s and they work fine for me. I have a Turbo400 and draw about 2,800 RPMs at 60 MPH with 27 inch tall tires. JB

I've got a full bottle, remote bottle opener, MSD Retard Control, and an itchy trigger finger. I just know that at full boost and a 150 shot flowing through the motor, I'm going to leave a good portion of it on the street if I hit it.

Plan - It's running great now, and I'll drive it this summer. When it cools down here I am going to pull the motor and go forged everything. I'll then up the boost to about 12PSI, and be able to hit the "go fast" button again. I talked to ProCharger and they're telling me just the piston swap will give me 725HP conservatively without the nitrous.

However, I’m planning on a port and polish job and maybe even a few extra cubic inches by boring it out. So… There’s no telling what the number is going to be. I can tell you I’ll be at the 2011 Power Tour though! That’s the only deadline I have.
And I'll be there too with my 74. Hoping to become a long hauler on my first try. I HOPE! Thumbs up

Thanks for everyones input. 74Malibu383 I have to say you have something special there. The performance of your car is crazy!!! If I can get remotely close to HP you're putting out and still have a driveable car, I would be extremely happy!! Thumbs up

I may have a few questions about that. I plan on building up a 400ci over the winter and that maybe an option to think about. scratch Thanks!

Just make sure you go with all forged components. Otherwise, you'll limit the amount of boost it can handle safely. Adding the ProCharger to mine was a complete afterthough, which is why I don't have forged pistons.

Live and learn I guess.

Wallace Racing has a great page with calculators that will help you accurately determine which gears you should run. All of their calculators are very accurate. Here is the address
