Bit of a Roadblock.. Empty Bit of a Roadblock..

Post by IndyG3 Wed May 12, 2010 6:52 pm

So I'm looking at picking up a 77 Malibu Station Wagon. The problem is I don't know if I can find any of the weather stripping for the rear hatch. Does anybody know of anyone or any webistes that might have it??? I've been hunting the Web forever now and can't find it. If anyone has that (or the rear door seals for that matter), let me know!!!

Thanks for the help so far guys. I've tried all the sites you've all mentioned but no one carries A). the rear door seals and B). the hatch seals. I've also contacted a few local dealerships and none of them carry them anymore either. If all else fails, I'll see if I could possibly cannibalize some other weatherstrips to make them work. I'm taking another look at the wagon tomorrow to see what I could possibly do. The weatherstripping is the only thing on this car that would be a problem so far!!! I don't want it to be the only reason I don't get it!!! Evil or Very Mad

Steele Rubber doesn't have anything that I haven't seen before. However, they do have the seal for a Vega wagon. I wonder if I could buy a couple of those, and possibly glue them together in a way that works. Hmm...

That's a body style code, Limey. When you search for those body styles, they say they don't have anything for them.

Might be far fetched, but since you were considering cannibalizing others anyways, JCWhitney sells a universal kit for $20.99....... For the price it might be worth considering instead of butchering two sets to make one.

Thanks for all the input guys. Today I went out and took another look at it, and it seems like all of the hard to find weatherstripping is in better shape than I thought it would be in. It's certainly good enough for me to have plenty of time to find some replacements. I'm probably going to be getting this car tomorrow depending on what I can get the seller down to. Surprised
