Newest Arrival: '76 Malibu
Just wanted to share what just came into one of the local yards...a bare bones '76 Malibu w/six banger replacement engine. Light brown interior w/plaid fabric bench seats. Let me know if anyone needs anything off it. As of this morning, yard can't decide whether to set it out for parts picking...or, sell it as is to someone wanting a demo derby car. By the way, it must be the season for demo derbys as I saw four full-size mid-70's GM cars trailered up and hauled out for this very thing. One was a '73 Buick Electra w/mint dark blue interior and rust free exterior. Car was brought up from CA a couple weeks ago. Other three were southern cars, too. Sad...

Demo dirby= sin of the worst kind. I am looking for the cap to the outlet on the canister that connects to the tank, pvc & carb. Can you look if it's there? I have a canister but missing that small piece. :-( Looking for an air cleaner housing & cover and also the right side amber parking light & housing in the bumper. Thank you Steve!

Re: Newest Arrival: '76 Malibu
i like demo derbys, but they shouldnt use cas that are already considered to be classics, at least not those in good condition. this is the only occasion when im sorry that japs dont build bigger cars. i dont care if ricers are being destroyed, but seeing an old classic demolished makes me sad

Chrome taillight strips & Chevelle emblem next to pass. tail for me. The only two pieces that my base model 76 is missing.
Love me some base model. The 76-77 base grille is by far the best 73-77 design IMHO AND it's plastic instead of pot metal like some of them were. Not to mention the fact that the bumpers don't have a
rubber strip like most Classics do.

Love to get ahold of that rear bumper, but I'm afraid of what the shipping would be!

Re: Newest Arrival: '76 Malibu
If it helps, I had a bumper shipped via Grey Hound from California to Calais Maine for $125.00.

Re: Newest Arrival: '76 Malibu
I think there is the beginning of some rust-thru at the top left side (notice the stain running down). I enlarged my photo and it seems to confirm there is a break in the chrome plating.
Anyone interested in the chrome plastic qtr window trims? Forgot to mention they let me pull those off and they are in nice shape. Not perfect as the finish is a little dull in some areas, but very presentable and not dry-rotted. I rarely find these plastic trims in useable condition, period. The waviness in the photo is simply due to it working loose in certain areas and not being pushed back into place. PM me if interested.

Take a peek at it whenever you happen to be there and see what they want for it, I'm looking more for a good candidate to sink in, tuck the sides in on and paint to match anyways. Mine has the rubber strip which is wasted and the base model bumpers have alot less holes across it than the Guna one with the strip.

Well, I looked at it...and, it's very rusty on the backside. The back support has rust through. The mtg bolts are very corroded. And, as suspected, there is rust-thru at the top left side where that stain originates in the photo. Truthfully, this is not a good candidate for your project and I really don't want to wrestle with those rusty bolts to dismantle it.
Good news is they are willing to part out the car.
