More Pics
The wheels I picked for her... 15x10 Fenton Racing Turbines for the rear and 15x8.5 Western Cyclones for the front. Any Suggestions on tire sizes that will fit in the wheelhouses?
Got the grills in shortly after gettin her home.
I'm really digging the shade of blue on this car
I'm hoping this paint is still available, need at least a quart to paint the cowl hood, the rear fillers and one of the sport mirrors.
Not sure if that mileage is actual or if it has rolled over, few clues to it hasn't is the almost total lack of underbody rust, although it started life down in Oklahoma, and barely any wear on the brake pedal or accel pedal.
Next step besides gathering interior pieces is to give it a heart transplant, ripping out the old 350 and dropping in a vortec 350 with LT4 hotcam, Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake and 750cfm Carb. According to Desktop DYNO software it should put out 413 HP @ 6000 rpm and 398 ft/lbs of torque

Re: The new baby!
What is the backspacing of the 15x10 rims? I have 15x10 with 4" backspacing and 295/50's. They rub/cut the outside of the tire. If I had 5" or 5 1/2" backspace they wouldn't touch at all.
BTW- super jealous of the color combo. Mine was built exactly like yours with the exception of having a 400 instead of a 350. Congrats on the find.

Re: The new baby!
The guy sellin em said they had a 4.5 backspace and he reccomended 285/50r15's but there doesnt seem to be a lot of brands to choose from.

Re: The new baby!
You could roll the lip to avoid cutting the sidewall, but you will still be close enough that I can't say it won't rub.

Re: The new baby!
I've got a few pics in my gallery here that will give you an idea of what 295's look like on a 10" rim, and you can also see how far to the outside they are at 4" backspace. 1/2" would help the outside clearance some, but if your bushings have any slop at all (especially the upper) then you'll probably still have contact.

Re: The new baby!
Well. Imeasured the 15x10's today and they only have a 4" backspace
I'm gonna talk to the guy I bought them from and see if maybe has a set of 9 inchers, or perhaps I foresee air shocks in my near future!
Looks better with the trim and tailights in!

Re: The new baby!
Can't you get a spacer made Bio? Are they off by just 3/4"? I tought the standard B/S on our cars was 4-3/4", is that wrong?

Re: The new baby!
A spacer with his backspacing would put the tire outside the body.

Re: The new baby!
Differant width wheels require differant amounts of backspace when tolerances are tight. JB77mali wrote:Can't you get a spacer made Bio? Are they off by just 3/4"? I tought the standard B/S on our cars was 4-3/4", is that wrong?

INDEED! Was going through my dads things after he passed and found them in a box, figured it's gonna be kind of a tribute to him!74MonteCarlo wrote:I've always loved the 1976 Michigan license plates.
Side note, I picked up a quart of paint for the hood and assorted trim pcs today. Glad it was still available!

Re: The new baby!
MMMMkay, next hurdle to overcome.... The vortec block has no hole drilled for a fuel pump pushrod, being born as a dedicated fuel injection motor and all. So I need to go with an electric fuel pump. Sooooo what to do?
A: stick a 92-96 impala gas tank in it and run a return line up front and two fuel regulators, one to bump it down to about 15 or so PSI and another right before the carb to bring it down to 6psi to keep the carb happy. ( ack am I going to need two returns since there are two regulators or can I tee them together? And can I use the old vapor return as the return line?
B: Get a sump welded on the old tank and install a pusher fuel pump in the rear somewhere.
C: I'm open to suggestions
