Re: 1973 CHEVELLE SS 454
If you see the pic of my cowl opened up, I have a large hole in the center for the dash vents. I wouldn't think they'd change sheetmetal in there. Or is it an A/C, Non A/C thing. Good to see the rust isn't discouraging you.

That's a whole lot easier than replacing all that rot. Very nice.

Wow nice score! This would never happen in my area. Most of our junkyards have long since destroyed anything that old.

Yeah, I really lucked out! Most yards around here have gotten rid of these cars also but there is one GREAT yard around here that keeps alot of old cars. They also let you walk the yard and take off your own parts so you can really get what you need (like a whole firewall and cowl)

Re: 1973 CHEVELLE SS 454
No i didnt but if it is still there next time i go back i will get one. There isnt much of the car left, someone had already taken the whole passenger side roof and quarter panel all the way to the back and part of the frame.

Re: 1973 CHEVELLE SS 454
No upper or lower cowl and half of the firewall out. Doner parts ready to go in. I will be happy if i never have to drill another spot weld but the way this car is going i dont think its going to happen.

Thanks. I get that alot. I am anything but zippy but always busy. I do say I saved this one from the scrap yard but it is a 454 SS car. Its not the one i drove in high school but my first car was a 73 Malibu so its worth it to me.

Thanks. Long way to go to save it. Still need to get upper cowl back on. Also have passenger floor pan complete trunk and picked up a set of NOS full 1/4 panels, but with a new 6 month old baby girl I think plan is to do floor then concentrate on getting it running or it will never see the road.

I'm guessing 'zippy' is what he'll be when it's finished.
Keep up the good work, zippy!

Have had mine since Nov. 2010- and it's still an ongoing battle to find enough free time to finish it, although I've finally turned a big corner and suspect it'll finally be driving soon (4 years later- LOL).
