Chevrolet Corvair with its rear engine and modern soap dish design was a real oddity at its introduction in 1960, not only with amerikasnak standards. It turned out to be more radical than genius, and despite innovations like Turbo, improved rear suspension and more so came the long-running legal dispute with Ralph Nader to effectively kill sales. Despite sharply declining numbers kept Chevrolet started Corvairen for nearly ten years, you could not put down the model during the process then one would lose prestige. A very peculiar and almost unique case in automotive history. Right up until the end was sketched on a whole new generation Corvairs.
completed full-scale model dating to 1967 and could become Corvair 1970, Biddeford not but parts of it were taken to other mdoeller, roofline with sweeping tail came Chevelle 1973rd
Another model from the same year, the front is basically identical to Pininfarins variation on the Corvair seen a few years earlier, but the rest of the body is basically the upcoming 1970 Camaro.

I did not read the above link, but the reason for the roof change was supposedly because of federal mandated rollover protection. JB

Yeah, the reason why the quarter windows and B-pillar happened. Its what really sets the 72 and earlier cars apart, but I sure like the big open sides when all the windows are down in a 1st gen Monte Carlo, looks great for cruising around and the wind blowing!
