Finally some pics of the 73
Here are some progress pics. I haven't had a lot of time to spend on it with the holidays, but I at least got it in the garage and cleaned all of the crap out of the interior. I ordered new front seat covers and new molded carpet. The rest of the interior is in remarkably good condition. i haven't dug the floor shifter and center console out of the pile of parts in the trunk yet, but I can't wait to see it in the car. I did throw some old school Cragar SST's on the back. Gives this car sooo much more curb appeal IMO. Let me know what you think guys. I will try to post updated pictures as the project progresses. Unfortunately the Engine is still at the machine shop, he got behind because of the holidays as well.
Sorry, I'm trying to get pics uploaded.....

Very nice car you got there. Are those 295's on the back. I like those too.

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
I loved the SST's back in the day ... my buddy had them on a 67 GTO ... sweet
I noticed the car has a malibu dash, and laguna door panels .. interesting combo
The body looks straight, and not all bondo-ed
When you have time, love to hear the specs on the engine

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
Looks like a good project. I didnt know those panels were Laguna specific? I have a set of front and rear black ones in decent shape.

Bold looking! Love the black with chrome trim / white SS emblems & wide wheels/tires to fill out the wheel wells. It really grabs attention!

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
Great looking SS! I think it looks tough in the satin black. Those panels and from what i can see, the rear seat, are from a later car, a 76 or 77. They are not Laguna specific though.

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
Have you checked your trim tag to see what came on the car originally? It can be surprising! I found out my 73 Grand Am, which is a White car with Red cloth interior, was actually born Mesa Tan with Saddle vinyl interior. Someone went through the whole car and did a color change!!.. Always check the codes!

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
I'm not sure on other years, but in 73, those were on the Laguna. Here's a link to OPG for them: (the reason I know is, I'm looking for 73 SS door panels, and I can't find them ... lol)
http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-soft-trim/12461/23/CH405.html
I have 50's on the back of my 73, and they make a big difference to the look of the car.
Good luck on the car, can't wait to get more details, and see more pictures ... thanks for sharing !

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
looking at them more closely I think pontichev327 is right, they are from a later model .... they look nice, though

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
The 73 Laguna door panels have a map pocket in the front part of the panel. The ones with the buttons on the tuck and roll and two chrome strips are for 76 and 77 Malibu and Classic, And also for the 76 Laguna but not the 74 or the 75 Laguna.

Re: Finally some pics of the 73
good information ... thanks
Also, I just noticed the car has the chrome rocker strips at the bottom ... I believe those only came on the malibu, and the chevelle, not the SS.
In 73, the SS had the striping without the chrome rocker strips.
With the Crager SST's the chrome strips makes the car look nice.

Thanks for all of the kind words guys. To clear things up, this car is NOT A TRUE SS, It is a standard Chevelle. The original color was yellow and it had a bench seat, no a/c, and 350 small block. The previous owner parted out several cars while he was painting this one. It does have all of it's original sheet metal and no body filler that I can see. The floor pans and trunk pans are solid with no rust as well as most of the body. It does have a small spot by the right backup lamp, but otherwise the body is rust-free. One of the cars he parted out was a 73 SS, and I think that's where the Buckets and console came from, but the rest of the interior is from a 76 Malibu Classic I believe. He was smart enough also to save all of the a/c components, including a piece of the firewall to use as a template to install the a/c evaporator and heater cases which were all included with the car. I also got with it several I/P trim plates, including the 73 SS plate with all of the individual gauges and factory big-block tachometer. The rear tires are 295/50/15's on 10" wheels.
