Re: 4 speed bench seat
I dont know about a factory shifter but Hurst lists the same shifter
(Part #: 3916848) for a 73-74 chevelle with OR without a console. Never saw a listing for a bench or buckets. But on their link it does show a diagram of the shifter handle itself with its measurements. That would be helpful in determining if it would work with a bench. http://hurst-shifters.com/?page_id=146&mk=47&yr=1973&md=21448&sm=176&e=5368&stype=MQ==

Re: 4 speed bench seat
I got the one it says is for the car but I put the bench in and it comes into contact with the seat when the seat is moved all the way forward preventing 2 and 4 engagement. I saw the shifter for the 74 bench seat car on here and noticed the stick is a lot straighter just curious if there's a part number or if a 68-72 bench seat lever would fit. I might have to get creative on this one

when I had a bench, I got my bench seat shifter from Summit, and it fit fine.

Re: 4 speed bench seat
Here is a craigslisting with a 73 454 AC car that shows a bench seat W/4 speed. Pretty pricy for what it is, might be rare but not $7500 rare. Does that shifter look stock to you??

What is that easy access to the fuel gage unit or did they put a fuel pump in the tank? LOL

Re: 4 speed bench seat
Typically that would be an in-tank fuel pump. Â The fittings cause it to be higher than the trunk floor. Â I have the same issue -- I had to cut the top of the hump in the trunk floor and have to create a flip-up hatch. Â But in that photo it looks like the stock fittings/hoses are on there, so I don't know why they would have done that...unless when they replaced the floor (this one doesn't appear to have any of the beading, stamping, or drain like the stock one) they simply formed it too low without testing the tank fitment.SSTOOLMAN wrote:What is that easy access to the fuel gage unit or did they put a fuel pump in the tank? Re: 4 speed bench seat
If the car was clean it might be worth that price, but not in that condition. The trunk was definitely replaced with just sheetmetal, and they messed it up.

Re: 4 speed bench seat
Judging by the trunk and the primer this car has had a lot of sheet metal replaced I would definitely stay away from that one but the shifter seems original and comes up higher before it leans back

Re: 4 speed bench seat
I think the original shifters were made by ITM. They only put Hurst shifters in certain cars, and unfortunately, ours isn't one of them. So the Hurst will fit, but it wouldn't be original and maybe shaped a little different.
