Looking into this. Just looks to good to be true. Have to do my homework on this one. Looks like its worth $1000 in parts anyway!

That looks like a great restoration candidate. Could you still get the 455 in 77?

Re: Merry Christmas to me!
Have no idea about the 455. The reason he doesnt have a title is he bought it in 08 and never transfered. He said he has bill of sale and 2008 title. Told him would have to have VIN PD verified before purchase. Dont know about restoration was thinking of flipping to fund some mods to Ghostrider.

Flipping makes sense. I'd just be sad to see a car that in as good a condition as that one appears to be get broken up for parts.

Re: Merry Christmas to me!
You definitely need to check this one out. If nothing else, I know the Can Am guys would love to get their hands on some parts from it. That hood tach alone is worth some bucks if the face of it isn't buggered up. Black interior stuff is always desirable if in nice shape. Grills, headlight/tail light bezels, etc.
Pretty sure the SD 455 was only used in '73/'74.

Re: Merry Christmas to me!
the 455 went out of production after the '76 model year. The b-bodys were redesigned for '77, so there is no way a a-body would have one.(455) Ā the "SD455" decals are a bit laughable ......Ā that said, I wouldn't mine owning it.Ā

Did some looking and the SD 455 was made in 77. Cant find any numbers on how many were made though.

Where did you find that info? Ā According to Wikipedia, quote: "The SD455 was only available only in the 1973 and 1974 formula firebird AND formula firebird trans am...."Ghost Rider wrote:Did some looking and the SD 455 was made in 77. Cant find any numbers on how many were made though.

Re: Merry Christmas to me!
Around the rear quarters looks a little rusted cant tell form the pictures but when zoomed in the fender well is a bit too close to that trim peice. I am going out to look at it Monday. Will know better then. Cant remember what the website was I found the SD in the 77 but will post if I find it again.

Cross your T's & dot your I's (check with your DMV) but if it were here in MA- a previous title & BOS would do. I don't think I have to tell you that an SD 455 Leman's (WITH HOOD TACH!) is a friggin' rare bird! Good luck, I hope you get it & Merry Christmas!

Re: Merry Christmas to me!
The car looks "dressed up" to me. No 455 in 77's. It would be nice if you could get some pics and codes off the motor to see what it is.

Re: Merry Christmas to me!
A build sheet would verify if the 455 was original. I know that it's probably not but if the motor cam out of another Poncho- it would still be pretty cool. 455 Poncho's depending on the year & configuration were a 330-360 hp motor.

Doubt the 455 is original, but either way looks like a solid car and priced right!

Re: Merry Christmas to me!
After talking with him there was too many if's and but's. I decided to pass. Would be a good parts car but he wants to make sure nobody chops it up. Said he had two offers from out of state.

Did you even get to examine it? Was it worth saving?

Muscle car versions yes, '76/'76 455 motors were a dismal 200 h/p.77mali wrote:A build sheet would verify if the 455 was original. Did not see in person. Did talk to him and the only rust is around the rear wheels. Floors and trunk in good shape. I would say good enough to save. I have seen worse brought back from the dead.
