Outside car storage maybe long term
Hi
I need some advice on car storage outside . I do not have enough home storage with the vehicles we own .Then just recently my wife inherited her first car . A 68 Mustang she had when we first started dating . My wife has had the car for 40 years . So the suggestion was get rid of the 73 laguna we bought in 1979 . So we have had this car 35 years . So she mentioned getting a outside are at a storage complex . The car has spent the last 9 months outside . When I needed to move it I opened the door and it was covered in mold on most surfaces . This isn't the first time and I would like to make it the last .So I am not sure if I post here or not . Okay so can anybody recommend a car cover I can put on the car for the outside elements . I am talking rain, snow , ice and wind . I am wondering if I should really seel the car but I know there are very few lagunas left . So any recomendations ? If have heard plastic tarps seal in the moisture . Thanks

Welcome !
Keeping your car under a tarp isn't a good idea. It may even survive better without being covered. If it's getting mildew inside, and if it's not driven at all, you may have to decide on if you should sell it.
Not easy to sell a car you have owned that long of course, but sometimes we have to ask ourselves why we keep certain things we never use anymore...

Clean the mold with warm water and murphys oil soap. I will come off even use a mr.clean magic eraser on tough spots. Advice I can give you is park the car on top of a plastic tarp to keep moisture from ruining the chassis and underbody. Invest in a good cover search for a California car cover there top outside cover.

Temporary garage. (Rhino, quonset..) Invest in a decent one. Keeps the car and ground underneath it dry.

I use one of theese for my oitside storage.http://www.shelterlogic.com/ProductList.aspx?CategoryName=Garages
Get the round top not the gable and it will handle the snow load also. They sell spring loaded vents that open up when its warm and close as night. I have Pee gavel for the floor. Roll up doors on both send so you could drive through it. Help some grad parties in it also. I have had the same unit for 15 years and gone through two cover tops so far. My 56 Chevy sat in it for two winters. no problem. I do still us a car cover California car cover out door type and then I leave the windows cracked a 1' or two for air. No mold no nothing other then when end door was left open a bird got in and left deposits on car but it was covered so no big deal. If you want to see some photos I can take some.

Re: Outside car storage maybe long term
Here are the outdoor car capsules you can find online. Google outdoor car capsule. I have been using Harbour Freight porta- garages for 5 years now. I had an awning company make custom heavy duty covers for them, guaranteed 5 years and still look good I am in Phoenix, so my problems are different than yours, but if you make a solid floor before putting the tent up, it should work fine. I keep an outdoor car cover on, even in the tents. The Inflatable  outdoor capsule should be great for you though.
