I recently acquired original plastic nos window trim in the gm boxes but the trim is gold not silver. anyone know if this was maybe specific to the 74 hurst olds with the large quarter windows

My buddy has a '74 h/o and his trim is chrome.  Besides that it is smaller due to the h/o vinyl top.

I have no idea what it would be off of then, this was a set with the two boxes taped together from gm .One part number is 9727044 and the gold one has the end of the original box missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This came from a Pontiac dealer. I wonder if any Pontiacs had gold trim on large triangle windows?

Could the chrome be worn off?  I've sanded plastic chrome  ( to paint it ) and it was gold underneath.

no , this is brand new in the gm box , not even a scratch on it , maybe it missed the chroming process and got shipped anyway

found gold trim for a small window on a 73 /74 century gs , new in gm box also plastic and they want 500.00 for the single piece

Probably why most cars are either missing it, or its  Turd .  I lucked out and got the '73 stainless stuff for cheap. ($100.00 if memory serves)

I've been there, kind of far as I'm probably two miles from lake erie, but the best swap meet around here by far.
