Re: Custom part show off
did you have to cut the bezel or did the gauges fit completely into the space behind without cutting?

Re: Custom part show off
I made the part the gauges are in. My car is a factory non a/c car so there was a stupid little compartment there. (A/c cars had the drivers side vent there). My custom plate uses the factory holes that would have held the vent. I just reread your question, they fit in the space as they are small.

Re: Custom part show off
Not crazy custom or anything, but I put my 2" gauges into the round holes of the dash. Cluster had to be drilled to get the temp sensor (mechanical) through. Thank god I didnt do it to my original bezel or cluster.
The cluster, bezel and Aiwa radio (benzi box, remember them) will be going up for sale as a package eventually. So someone doesnt have to cut up there original one.

Re: Custom part show off
A couple things here. I made the spoiler out of a old shelf that I was going to scrap. All I used was a bench vice, cut off wheel, and a drill. It came out nice enough that i had it powder coated for $40.00 & "highlited" it with silver pinstripes. Also I have a '76 elcamino grille, & the headlight bezels are plastidipped.

Re: Custom part show off
Its a little easier than what others around here are going through trying to get the OE stuff to work.driveit wrote:dynchel wrote:

Re: Custom part show off
I agree. I really like this one as far as the gauge layout and how the panel looks. It looks really high quality.

Re: Custom part show off
Working on an idea for a custom grill. Anyone know the length and height of a 74 Chevelle grille?

Re: Custom part show off
Here is what I was thinking of using.
16"x48": $44.99
Powder Coated: +$10
The hole may not be large enough for the look that I am wanting, but you kinda get the idea.

Re: Custom part show off
Have you ever removed your grille? Its a little more involved than filling a opening.

Re: Custom part show off
I plan to find a spare and cut it the center out. Does the 74 come apart? I thought it was just one piece.

Re: Custom part show off
I plan for it to be a cross between the grill I designed for this one and the laguna grille below. No lights in the grille though, like the laguna. I am thinking about hiding red led's in behind the grille.

Re: Custom part show off
This is a '77 frame, with a '76 classic grille.

Re: Custom part show off
So the frame is the outside part which is still chrome, correct?

Re: Custom part show off
anodized aluminuminunim... k. lol. Point is, it comes off. I like the sound of that. The center part you have, has the look I want, but I want it sunk in about 3 inches. Two chrome strips or billet will go across. Not Anodized aluminum... lol. People are so picky...

Re: Custom part show off
The black part is plastic. BTW the original ('74 grille is potmetal and 16 lbs)

Re: Custom part show off
Which one was the one you were wanting to part with? It was the 74 wasn't it?
