Seems to be a waste not to use those cubic inches, can these engines be modified with aftermarket cams and higher flowing heads?

Well they are their own breed, They have their own LS style port head and I do not know if the old heads will fit them or not.

Like was said, it is it's own animal. Nothing swaps with it, and what is available may be more truck oriented.

I'm going to guess they have a reverse-flow cooling system and won't accept the older style parts but I was just wondering if the 496/8.4 litre engines would be the next candidates for the aftermarket high performance parts industry? Given the rarity of large cube motors in an affordable price range wouldn't it be cool to bore and stroke a factory 496 and put it in a g3 sleeper?
