I don't think that's factory at all.

Re: Anybody seen this TOP before?
It is unique...but, certainly not factory. Were lots of independent upholstery/vinyl top shops back then doing aftermarket work. Remember...vinyl tops were cool!
Looks like a cool car! Like the photo shot from the back seat that shows the entire front dash/seat area.

My '86 caprice classic 2 door had the top done just like that. I miss that car.

Yep & the '78-'80 mc models also had the "forward" Landau, but I've never seen it on this generation. Most certainly not factory. Cool, tho, I think!

I didn't say it was factory, I said it LOOKED factory.
The trim pieces look too good to be aftermarket. Maybe trim from a different car?
whoever it was did a good job of it regardless.

Re: Anybody seen this TOP before?
Looks like they might have used the trim that normally goes around the base of the rear window and flipped it around to go over the top. Find a couple of corner pieces to make the angle and Voila!- a custom trim treatment.
Looks good to me, like something the factory could have done for an imaginary upscale trim level.

This looks like a dealer installed job. Years ago my friend had a 73 ElCamino that had a top down the b pillar and wrapped around the tailgate.Looked neat until a tree fell on it.

I think you're right. After another stare it does look like they just flipped it around.

Never-mind.

That is definitely unique. For once, I'm not sure what to think here but nice car.

Agreed.
Interestingly, the owner says it IS factory, except for the color of the top ... used to be red.
Still, I don't know ... I find it a bit difficult to believe it is factory, since none of us seem to have ever seen one like it. I'm thinking the owner THINKS it is factory b/c it was a dealer added top ... maybe?
