Bench for swivels swap
Getting ready to pull the bench seat out in favor of the swivels and console.
Need some guidance, it doesn't appear that the holes are pre-drilled in the floors. And I will have to cut the hole for the shifter. Never done it and need advice from the pros. What about the seatbelts?

Re: Bench for swivels swap
you have to get the seatbelts from the donar swivel car, for the bench as you notice for the bench sits on top of the seat belt pull area.
I am almost sure you have to drill the hole for the cable for the shifter, and when you mount the swivels line the driver side front and then mark/drill your holes from that, and on passenger side will be the right hand front bolt hole then line the others up from the (mark/drill) .
i am sure i am forgetting something and will add to this post as i remember

Re: Bench for swivels swap
Mine has brackets that the seat attach to. Maybe I can get some pics and you can copy them. I have a set of swivels for $75 that need recovered and a little work.

Re: Bench for swivels swap
When my car came to me, it had swivel bucket seats, although it came from the factory with the bench. It looks like the original owner just bolted the swivel buckets down either to the floor in new spots, or where the original spots for the bench seat were. My driver side seat sits back about 4 inches farther than the passenger seat. It fits me perfectly though, since I'm about 6' 4"
Not sure if that helps at all, but I'm guessing the swivel buckets could bolt up to the bench seat holes and be a little crooked...

Re: Bench for swivels swap
I have the buckets and the console (I love me some @#$%%^ Craig's list)
But it looks like I might need some brackets.
My 75 doesn't have that bracket on the tunnell in Black's pic.
Does the console bolt down to that?

And if anybody has a pic of where the shifter cable goes thru the floor that they could post, I would appreciate it.

Re: Bench for swivels swap
i drilled holes used 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts welded steel sleeves through the main floorboard support for added strength and then welded steel sleeves in the main floorboard support and put a washer on the bolt welded washer to head of bolt then welded washer to floorboard on both sides to make it that much more sturdy all supplies u can get at ace for under 20 bucks plus i never have to worry about my seat leaving me planing on putting in camlock lap belts
now wen i throw it through turns i dont have to ever worry about breaking a bolt and losing my seat

Re: Bench for swivels swap
when i got my parts car with buckets and the console, i cut out all the seat and console mounting brackets with a cutoff wheel. they wer all held in with just a few smallish welds, and only took a little time to get out of the car. there is a "crossmember" that welds to the trans tunnel and acts as both the rearmost console mounting point and also the rear inner seat mounting point. there is also a "crossmember" that welds to the trans tunnel for the front console mount, and a pair of tabs that weld to the floor for the inner front seat mounting points.
the front outer seat mounting points on the buckets use the same mounting points as the bench seat, so if you don't have the proper brackets and what not, you can use that mounting point as a reference to create the rest of them.
the seatbelts are also different- the bench bolts to the top of the retractor, and the buckets use a retractor that is offset back from the seatbelt anchor point and (i think) has the seat mounting stud built into it.
it's been over 4 years since i took the parts out of the donor and i haven't installed them in my car yet since i don't have all the parts collected and haven't gotten the seats recovered yet, so some of this might not be totally correct.
