I thought I had read on here that the early '73's had the "5" (500 RPM) digit displayed and the late model '73's didn't?

Interesting. I was told mine was out of a '73 but I'm not for certain. If my tach was out of a '73 it didn't have the "5" on it but the white face I installed on it does.

I just checked my 73 SS 350 4 speed Chevelle built in September 1972 (early) and my tach does not have the 5. Everything else looks the same, and it has yellow from 4750-5000 rpm with orange from 5000-7000 rpm red line.

I have a 73 SS tach in my stash and it has the same color markings and no 500 mark either.
