Re: How to Pick Paint
The "flat" look was started by someone who wanted to paint a less than perfect car themselves to save money and not have to worry about making mistakes because the flat would cover them up. I guess there is a place for everything. JB

Granted, but now you have people (including my friend) painting a perfect car flat.

isnt it easier to paint over flat colors?74Malibu383 wrote:IMHO, I believe cars should shine. A very good friend of mine is painting his 69 Camaro flat blue. I know it'll look good when done, but it just won't get that same "first glance" from people. To each their own, but I still don't understand spending the exact same amount of time and money to paint a car satin over gloss.
To each their own though.
i painted my el camino with flat black rustoleum so its like i just have primer on it. im eventually going to paint the elky a burgundy color and the mali is going to be silver poly with the black landau top painted on.
mine are going to look like these
just without the corvette wheels instead there gonna be centerlines.

We're all talking about the finsh coat being satin (flat) not primer. And we're not talking about a rattle can paint job either. You'll need to sand all that crap off if you ever really paint your car.
