New headlight bezels for 76/77

Just received my new headlight bezels from The Parts Place. They advertised them as "show quality". The chrome looks very nice. I was hesitant to order reproductions, but so far so good. Hopefully they fit as good as they look. Hope this will help, if anyone else is considering purchasing them.

Great to see that some G3 parts are starting to be re-produced. I bought a few sets of those on Ebay some years ago to finally get a pair of good ones.

They are made of plastic. Went a grabbed an old one I had laying around, they feel slightly lighter weight. I'm planning on getting the car out this weekend and installing them.

I tried to install the bezels tonight. It's not looking good. They appear to be about 1/8" deeper than the originals. This makes them not fit flush on the outside edges. Being plastic I don't want to force them and at $150 with shipping I don't want to break them. I have sent a message to The Parts Place, but have not heard back yet. I also have a complete header off of a 77 Malibu and they won't fit on it either. I'm very disappointed, because they look great. Let's hope that they stand behind their products.

Grrrr. Why dont they try the first ones before they go and sell them? Its 4 screws and about 10 minutes time! What are they thinking. I hope they read this but they probably wont care.

I don't understand how they could have missed that in the first place. They obviously had to have an original to work from. Once they popped the first one, a ten second comparison to the original with a caliper would have shown the problem.
Is there enough meat on it that the backside could be sanded/filed down 1/8"?

Dammit I wished I had one of there's to take to them and show them the difference from mine they are only an hour from me

Thats a great idea! They probably have more at their warehouse. You should take one original of yours there and show them. It would be good to make them aware face to face that there is a market that needs more quality parts out there. Their stuff isnt great quality at times. I will pay for good stuff no problem,but im not paying for junk.

They were shipped from Dekalb Il. The first picture will show me holding on my original bezel and the second shows me holding on the new bezel. The 3rd and 4th show the depth difference between the old and new one. Both of the measurements are from the outside edge of the LH bezel.

They emailed me back yesterday and asked how they did not fit. I responded last night about the depth issue, but I could not send pictures through the eBay message system. I have not heard anything today.

You can Send Pictures thru Ebay messages ....its at bottom and says add photos probably just an overlook maybe

Got another email this morning. They said that the bezels are made off the GM tooling and that they have not had any problems with them. I was unable to send pictures from my phone, but did find the add picture section at the bottom when I logged on with my computer. I sent them the pictures. Will let you know what I find out. I'm going to try again tomorrow to install them, just to make sure that I am not missing something.

I also see that Parts Place sells repro Monte quad bezels. I know those are slightly different...but, can't remember in what way. Suppose they got them mixed up when they shipped yours?

I have the correct bezels. The monte's look similar from a distant but they are definitely different. I think they attach on the sides, where as the el Camino/ Malibu attach in the corners .

That sucks, I have seen on ebay that The Parts Place is starting to repop a few thing for our years of cars. A few weeks ago I bought 4 seat belt loop guides for my car (ebay # 330796527253). They didn't fit worth a darn. They do not snap in very tight and keep popping out of the retainer. Factory guides are designed for a small plastic push pin to go in the middle to spread and lock the guide into place. These from The Parts Place are not like that. You cant beat the factory stuff.
