thert1976 wrote:That sucks, I have seen on ebay that The Parts Place is starting to repop a few thing for our years of cars. A few weeks ago I bought 4 seat belt loop guides for my car (ebay # 330796527253). They didn't fit worth a darn. They do not snap in very tight and keep popping out of the retainer. Factory guides are designed for a small plastic push pin to go in the middle to spread and lock the guide into place. These from The Parts Place are not like that. You cant beat the factory stuff.
These have always been available through Dorman and you should just put a small sheetmetal screw in them to keep them in place. The plastic pin that went there originally gets brittle and breaks. The clear comfort clip though is nice to have if it works as it should as a reproduction. Makes the seat belt not feel like its going to strangle you.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
That is what I did with a sheet metal screw. It's not how I wanted to do it thow. I'm just glad this wasn't my good car, just a beat up daily driver. I'll do GM guide loops for the good car.
I'll have to look into those clear clips. Those would be nice if they are not asking a lot of money for them.

It does not show if the repo clear clips have the white clip to keep them from sliding up and down the belt. That's why I did not order them.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
I have tried everything to make them fit. I did not want to change anything on the el Camino, so I have been experimenting on the extra Malibu header. I removed the nylon nuts that push into the headlight bucket and replaced them with much smaller ones I found at O'Reilly's. This allowed the bezel to fit better, but still does not fit flush on the sides. The Parts Place has not contacted me since I sent them pictures, over a week ago. Â I emailed them tonight and told them I want a different set or refund. We will see how this goes. Might be the first and LAST thing I ever order from them.

That sucks, you would hope that they would stand behind their product.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
In their defense, I'll give The Parts Place the benefit of a doubt as they are at the mercy of their supplier to determine just what the problem is. Â With that said, they should be on the phone daily trying to get some determination as to what the supplier intends to do about resolving the problem. Â And, since molded items don't generally fluctuate in dimensions to this extent, their supplier is probably looking into what has changed in their production cycle. Â Until they do so, I'm sure they don't want to send another set out and risk making a bad situation worse if it also doesn't fit. Â I've been there when I worked for an Industrial Distributor and it can be a frustratingly slow process. Â But, keep on them until you get a satisfactory answer. Â Ultimately, it's The Parts Place's responsibility to take care of the end customer (you) as quickly as possible regardless of the run-around they may be getting from their supplier. Â Keep us posted...

The bezels have been returned to The Parts Place. They told me they would take a look at them and decide whether to send me another set or give me a refund. To be fair it does not appear that one of my emails went through. That is why they did not respond in over a week. The rest of my emails were responded to within 48 hours.

I'm sure they got the e-mails. I would be surprised if they did not hit you for a re-stock fee as well. They got me twice. idiots

Bezels
I'm glad I started collecting parts for my car back in the 80's when you could still find OE parts.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
I wonder if they actually took them out and tried them on a car. The other thing is I wonder if they went off a old piece that may not have been right in the first place.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
The big mystery is that these can't be the first pair they've ever sold...and, supposedly from the original factory molds? Why all of a sudden do they not fit? Molds don't change and finished parts wouldn't vary by that much. Really anxious to hear their explanation.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
It is nice that a company is catering to our years of cars. It would be nice to pick up a catalog and order the parts that you need instead of combing the junkyards for a usable piece. But if these aftermarket parts don't fit right or of poor Quality they are of no use.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
I'm still waiting. According to the tracking number, they got the package on Saturday June 25th. I emailed them the middle of last week and was told that they were talking to the manager about it. I have not heard anything since. I will contact them again on Tuesday. They now have the bezels and my money. I hope this works out.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
I received notice that they were refunding me my money because in their words apparently they do not have anything to fit my car. Not exactly sure how to take that. They never said that they found anything wrong or not. I thought that there was going to be a problem because they only refunded me $118 of the $151 spent. But after another email asking why, they refunded me the rest of it without any explanation. My opinions of the company are mixed. On one hand I'm unhappy that their repo parts don't fit, but on the other hand they did stand behind their product. I don't understand because on eBay it claims that they have sold 11 sets of these bezels. I have 5 sets of used bezels and they all fit fine. I would really like to know who has bought these and how they fit on their cars. For now I'm probably done with The Parts Place. Maybe someday I will give them another chance. Looks like it is back to finding a place to rechrome one of the old sets.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
Glad you got your money back. Â
I have bought stuff from them and let's say they are hit or miss. Â Mostly miss. Â
Anyway, I may have some idea why they didn't fit. Â
There are two different nut inserts used to hold the headlight bezels to the headlight housing. Â
See pictures below. Â
There is a thin one and a thick one. Â
Using the think one when you need the thin one would probably give you a gap?
Sorry to come late to the party but I just read your post.
Thanks -
Jerry

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
Yes, I'm aware of the different inserts. I did try and use the smaller inserts. The picture of the tan header is using the smaller inserts. I original posted that the bezels were deeper than the originals but later came to the conclusion that they apeared to be warped in the middle, which made them seem deeper. I did explain this to The Parts Place but they must not have agreed with me.

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
I remember years ago on the Yahoo group a member bought the window fuzzies for his 73 Monte. They didnt fit either they were really off. If you are going to develop and sell something the you know the purchaser is going to be picky about why not go the extra mile?

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
Personally, I think that was a horse-s#*t way to handle this on The Parts Place's part. Yes, I'm glad you were refunded...but, this only solves part of the problem. Where's the explanation from a quality control standpoint? This suggests to me that they haven't gotten to the bottom of the problem and just figured it was easier to give you a refund and move on. That's not good customer service. Sure...it solves the immediate problem (you), but what about the next guy who goes to order them?

Re: New headlight bezels for 76/77
I didn't have any problems with those folks.  Bought a gas tank, new windshield & various other parts from them, with no problems.  Wonder if they have new people working there  ??  The guy I always talked to was "Van" If I have a problem with any supplier, I call them. It's easier to get answers & corner them by phone than waiting for emails, which they seem to take their time on...
