Fuel Tank and Sending Unit
Hey. I did a search but didn't find what I needed as far as an answer. So, I was working on putting my sub box in my trunk today so I needed to drop my tank. I saw that the previous owner had ran a 1/2" SS braided fuel line to the front. As I was removing all of that along with a big acorn shaped fuel filter I saw how he made it into the tank by drilling into the tank and bypassing the dual lines from the tank. I haven't pulled it out of the tank but I can only imagine that it is just a pipe down to near the bottom of the tank itself. Homemade drag car type of stuff. The tank looked pretty ruff when I dropped it and the old lines where just left open. I am pretty sure that none of the stock stuff works anymore so I want to replace the entire sending unit. Since my 496 with a Holley 950 HP carb will want an upgrade to a 1/2" line I am going to start from there. My question is, do they make a sending unit with a 1/2" pick up tube? I am not going to run a return or use the vapor line. I will be using a Holley 170GPH HP fuel pump as it requires no regulator and is quality piece. I will need a bank loan to buy it but that's another story. Thanks and, you know what guys, have a great day.

Re: Fuel Tank and Sending Unit
I just found this. Sounds perfect except for the price. I need to sell some more of my stuff. I think this is the way to go.
And then I found this:

I would purchase the cheapest new sender you can find and mod it like your pic. Real easy to do and it will go right into the stock location. Just keep the vent tube on it and put a screen or something on the end outside the tank. The tank needs to breathe.

Hey. I had read your post about the SS one you ended up with. I think I will do that Joe. Thanks for input.

Re: Fuel Tank and Sending Unit
There are 2 line and 3 line. I dont recommend, the Spectre brand. I bought a Dorman 692-131. They are readily available. Sender works correctly.
