Rear Seat & Belt Bolts

Rear Seat & Belt Bolts
When I was putting the car back together four years ago, I was able to remove the drivers side lower seat bolt but the passenger side bolt broke when I tried to remove it. Today I drilled it out and tapped it to match the drivers side hole. I tapped the passenger side to 3/8 bolt size. I didn't realize until I tried installing factory bolts that 3/8 is too small. Someone who had the car before me broke the drivers side, drilled and tapped it to 3/8. Should I need to redrill the holes and tap them to factory bolt size, which I think is 1/2?
This is the location I am referring to.

I ended up re-drilling and tapping to accept 1/2 bolts. Figured the engineers who designed the car knew what was best.

You are correct, that's the size of the bolts I removed a few years ago were.
