Re: Motor and Tranny IN !!
I found that-but how can you tell what year is what-
The teardrop shape in the middle of the circles has an 8 in it.
then the other larger teardrop shape has D N T around it.
The numbers in the stamp like the one above have what looks like an 8 or 3 but it's worn down badly, then after that is / 47
so it looks like 8/47, but the 4 is larger than the 7
?????????

A36
So im guessing its a January 3rd 1976 casting date?
A= January
3= 3rd day
6 = 1976 since this casting was not made in 1966

Updates-new pics:
Out on the lot, waiting for space, 1948 Willys

Head on

Empty-cleaned up and painted the cross member/mounts

Passenger side view

Swivels bolted in, Bench seat out, console in but shifter still on the column for the moment.

All set, gotta clean up the distributor, then bring her home. When I hit the engine bay with the pressure washer and degreaser, lost a lot of old paint, gotta re-do that then get on the rest of the interior, get the stereo in, fix some electrical gremlins and I'm rollin'!! Fired up yesterday morning and ran it for the 25 minute break in, sounded great, had a minor water pump gasket leak, but other than that no problems.

Yup, my gas pedal foot is getting itchy!
Will that spacer work (1 inch) with the factory air cleaner housing? It looks OK, but the hood ain't on yet. I may also have to put a spacer between the top of the carb and the air cleaner because of the electric choke, I'm afraid it's getting too tall.

Re: Motor and Tranny IN !!
that spacer should depending on what size carb you have.

Re: Motor and Tranny IN !!
Also might want to pay attention to your filter height. I'm running a similar intake & carb with no spacers. I done a mock up & I can't fit a 4" element on a drop base. Good excuse for me to get cowl induction though.

Re: Motor and Tranny IN !!
yea I would only go a 2" filter wth a drop base if using a carb spacer

Re: Motor and Tranny IN !!
I just picked up my air cleaner and ran by the shop..... looks okay but I'm gonna have to use a banjo fitting on the fuel line to clear the base of the air cleaner housing.
The factory filter size is a three inch, it looks like I'll clear the hood by a couple of inches, so should be ok.
Won't really know for sure til we get the hood back on.
I think that Edelbrock carb (600) is actually a tiny bit shorter than the QJ, and the intake is a performer RPM, so it doesn't sit too high either.
