I like all 73-77s, but I have to admit, 75 is my least favorite year. Not for the taillights though. I don't like the grille on the Malibus/Malibu Classics. I love the bowtie inside the taillights - very clever! 75 is also my least favorite year Monte Carlo. I don't like the grille or taillights on that.

Alright, I'll say it........I LIKE the quads, especially on the Montes. I think they look good with the fender lines. I like the singles better, but I thought the quads looked good too. Razz

As far as the Chevelles, I liked the 74 grille better than any of them.

for bu's id say of the gen3s it would be 74 for mee the grilles and tail lights and for the montes prolly 74 also on the malibus i conur the quads just ruin the car

Split this off of the car list topic because we got off track & this is a good topic.

My favorites from 73-77

Elky - 74
Malibu - 76 base model or 73 SS
Monte - To be truthful, I don't really know much about them to tell years apart. scratch

LeMans- Tough one. No real favorites unless I stumbled upon one with an SD455 & a 4 speed.
Grand Prix - 74. Because someone's gotta love the ugly duckling.
Grand Am & Grand Lemans - No favorites, just don't know those cars well enough
Cutlass - Another hard one for me. I would have to go with the 73 model as the top dog, but a 75 H/O would be cool too. Might even like to own a 77 with a 260 & 5 speed trans just for the cool factor.
Century - 73 GS. Just plain cool. Nothing more to say.
Regal - Probably a 76-77. Don't know a lot about them, but the later models would make cool GN clones.

'74's would mine. I do like the front of the '73's. Maybe someday I will put a '73 nose on mine. For the el camino, may try a '73 buick centry front end(the one with the small round lights).

74 is my favorite. That's why bought another one after selling first one.There's just something about rear taillights that make the car.If had to get another chevelle it would be a 73 ss to go with my 74.

74 has the best fender extension/bezel set up for sure. I never cared for the extended grille on 73 models, the 75-77 round headlights have too much trim, & square headlights on a Chevelle just sounds wrong.

X2 on the large quarter windows. It just flows with the body better.

Chevelle-
Love=74 grill and tails
Hate= 73 tails (they look "leftover" to me)

Cutlass-
Love= QUADS on that square front end 76-77
Hate=73 front end. Looks like an insect

Monte
love= QUADS with that fender line look AWESOME
Hate= nothing, except maybe the factory turbines.

Love on all of them---RALLYS----not really, just jabbin at Rago Cool

lol my friends 78 nova has the chevy emblems on the inside of the front turn signals lol

rago i pretty much agree with all of these
expecially your thoughts on the 73 buick

malibu = minez
el camino = any year as long as it has the laguna nose lol or round headlights
buick regal = 77 regal
cutty = 77 brougham

I'm not big on 73-75 Grand Prixs AT ALL...76-77s are better.

Chevelles and MC's, 74 is my favorite. Gee, wonder why...lol.

Everything else, I like all the same.

Reader's digest version ... yes, I know other ways are easily spotted each year, but this is what I look for the most....

1973 ... "Inward" taillights have horizontal "slits" through them. Knight emblem is in the center of the trunk lid.

1974 ... Rear emblem moved from trunk lid to "inward" taillights; no more "slits" in the taillights.

1975 ... First year of "wrap around" taillights. Taillights once again have horizontal "slits", but this time, the "slits" are body-colored. NO REAR EMBLEM.

1976 ... First year of quad headlights. Taillights are "wrap around" with emblem in them.

1977 ... Hood ornament (versus grill ornament). Taillights still "wrap around" and have the emblem in them, but this year, the taillights are "shorter" (top "cut off" such that instead of light lense, it is body color) and have horizontal chrome "slits" in them.

My favorite year ... 1976

You are welcome, of course! Like I noted, other ways to differentiate the years are evident, but those are the ones I look for most often.
