Frame OFF!!!
So after 8 hours of working on jacking up each corner 3 inches at a time to clear 3 feet, I finally got the frame out. Getting ready to blast the frame now. Here's the pics, let me know if you see anything else that needs to be taken off (I've already removed the power steering pump and rear bumper)

Re: Frame OFF!!!
Are you going to break it down more and take off A arms, control arms, sway bar etc? Replace bushings? Just wondering cause if you have it that far apart you might want to do that.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
Where can I find the replacement bushings for the body support? Also, is anyone else's exhaust look like this? Never noticed it til now.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
My old 74 had tailpipes that were bent similarly to that. They were bent by the installer.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
Which bushing set did you get and where from? I looked on Summit and there's about 10 to choose from.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
68-72 convertable bushings they have the extra 2 that we need for our cars. You can get from OPGI. Eklers has the radiator support mounts also. Hope this helps

Re: Frame OFF!!!
I found a set of 73-77 on OPGI, but they're $300. I also found the convertible set, but it looks like they don't have the bottom rubber that the original has. Here's the link I found: http://www.opgi.com/p/suspension/10767/28/SB517K.html
Let me know if this is the right set.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
Body mount bushings for my '75 Elco came from The Parts Place. A bit less money that OPGI.
You are in for some work with that project. Just did it all on my Elco. Great to know that when you are finished it will be in great shape.
Here's my album with pics that may help.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
So I got my body mount bushings in the mail, but something tells me they're not the right ones. I got the '72 convertible set.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
The hole diameter looks the same. The old one's probly compress when the body is on them and the new urathane one's wont compress so that is probly why they look different. I am not sure just a gues hope some one can tell me if i guessed right.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
The parts place has 73-77 GTO/Lemans stock style bushings listed.
http://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/ocatalog/part.asp?VID=6&YearList=1977&Search_Keyword=&CatID=&curpage=8
Found it via a Impala SS forum where they discuss body mounts for their cars
http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=255855&highlight=body+bushing&page=6
I'm inclined to think that the Impala/Caprice kits would fit more directly, but I haven't been able to find dimensions for the body bushings any where. Someone on some forum I read made there own out of hockey pucks.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
Mine are the stock rubber type, from the Parts Place like I mentioned, and should fit '73-'77 A bodies and El Caminos like mine. They may have the hardware too, bolts etc. I used the old hardware, since they came out easy and shiny .

Re: Frame OFF!!!
I'm almost tempted to just use these. There's a few of the old ones that are still in good condition, but I don't know how they'll match up with the new ones.

Re: Frame OFF!!!
I would be inclined not to mix old with new, since it's liable to stress the body a bit when they are torqued down. I guess you could shim the old ones to match the new ones (?)
