Re: tired of moving things over and over again
had to get a pic of the 2 babies in it b4 the 2 post lift goes in on saturday.
two cars can fit by the back doors (when lift is in)
only one car in the middle (on lift) and one under if nessesary
I only sealed half the floor so I can seal around the bases of the lift after instal.

NICE! Will you still be able to drive thru to the old garage, once the lift is in?

So.. if the two post lift is going in the middle/front, will you be able to navigate AROUND the lift to get two cars parked behind it!? The picture is throwing me off! lol

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
I will post pic of lift saturday. I will be able to either have a car behind the lift and/or one in back barn. I have enough room to park 5 cars.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
the lift just got installed today.
need to get the 100 amp service fixed and i will be able to use it soon.seems to be a break in one wire under ground,so i only have one leg working.lift is 20amp 220 and needs both legs.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
Every mechanic's dream...a lift in their garage. Very cool, indeed! I've always wondered...how do you determine the car's balancing point when you have just the single leg on each side? I always picture a car tipping front or back if it isn't perfectly balanced.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
The front pads/arms are shorter than the rears. When they put my monte on the lift to do the exhaust the posts were just behind the side mirrors. The pads were at the corner part of the wheel well. The backs were at the rear wheel well. If that makes sense.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
looks like you got the 9000lbs lift?
Its a good lift, just keep it lubed and the cables adjusted properly, we have a 9K just like that and a 10k lift and I prefer the 9K just because of how much faster it moves up and down.

Ooooh, that is so awesome!! Now with a couple different pictures, I can see you have more room than I thought! You can easily drive past the lift and get a couple cars in the front too!

That is a sharp looking barn.
I like how the garage door goes straight up.
Who is the lift manufacturer?
Thanks -

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
How do you find somebody who can install a lift. About 10 years ago I thought about getting a 4 post lift, but could not recieve and install it by myself. JB

i found an ad on craigslist for the sale of the lift. the guy sells them and installs them. so he gets it,brings it to the house, installs it,than i enjoy it.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
I've been researching 4 post lifts recently. Seems that if your not using them multiple times a day like a shop, then you dont have the "scooting" problem. Take a look at this link and scroll down to where it talks about anchoring a 4 post lift. http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Atlas-Garage-Pro-8-000

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
i wanted a 2 post because of manuverability. if there was 4 post, the back 2 would not give me enough clearence around it.

the green part is the old barn. so what i did was make the front (new) barn the drive through part. with the lift just inside the front of the new barn,it gives me room behind to either leave the monte/caprice in the back half,or put all the way back in the old half.
than i also used the door that was on the front of the old barn to access the new 19x8 loft in the new barn.there is also a winch in the new rafters to put heavy (400lb max) stuff up there.it was nice to use it for getting the 6 extra monte doors up and out of the way.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
scored this for $200....reconditioned air/heat motel in wall unit. i put it in the old barn.couple more studs, some plywood and pegboard and it will look right at home.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
barn got a couple coats of color. air heat unit dont look so bad from outside. i have to get some plastic brown paint and make it look invisable.

Re: tired of moving things over and over again
That hotel a/c-heater was a good idea. A nice plant would help hide it too.
