Fads come and go
Do you remember when putting lights under the bottom of your car made it look cool at night? Check out this website. http://www.roundeyes.com/LED_Lighting-LED_Rock_Light_Kit.html

You could get those little bullit lights and mount them
on your rear shock mounts. Alot of cars had them years
ago those and huge Crager SS and pro trac 60's and
really inflated air shocks. That era was my first exposure to hot rodding
and I still like what is called the stinkbug stance (Jacked up rear)
on your rear shock mounts. Alot of cars had them years

Anthony, are you saying you're partial to the stance on my 74 Monte, with those helper shocks, or do you mean WAY jacked up?! LOL

The bullit lights (on the shock bolts)were real popular when I was in high school, along with the mandatory fog lights mounted behind the grille.  of course a big magnet mounted c/b antenna was a given also.ant7377 wrote:You could get those little bullit lights and mount them

I remember all tbose lighs and then the strip lights in the late 80's. Used to look pretty cool but all illegal. I never had the lights. Never limed to draw attention.

i used to always run the fog lights behind the grille, but the lights on the shock bolts always seemed kind of hillbilly to me.

I had seen examples of the former, but never saw any of the latter around this neck of the woods. Sometimes fads skip right by here.

In my day there was nothing but WAY up. We used to lift up on the bumper to get that extra 1/2" of lift on the Skyjackers.

Re: Fads come and go
OK I'm showing my age now but its hard to tell in the photo as sun in on other side of car. Frame/wheel wells were painted white as rear drums are with a fog light in each wheel well to make the wheel glow at night time. And yes that's a CB antenna on the truck lid. Â Year was 1980-1981

Whats scary is we would put those shackles on rear leaf spring and then drive them like road course cars now days I'm amazed the rear ends never came loose from the car or twisted the shackles

No, that's a big ol' slab-sided Plymouth Fury from Thunderbolt & Lightfoot. Â Always the first thing that comes to my mind when someone talks about jacking up the rear of a car.

Re: Fads come and go
Speaking of fads..almost every actor these days has hair on his face. If they keep that up, Gillette will go out of business ! Â
Just don't know why guys these days want to look like Don Johnson when he did the Miami Vice series on TV a few decades ago.
People are like sheep...follow the so-called "leader"....

Re: Fads come and go
The so called "California rake" was quite popular in the old days...
Flame throwers on the tail pipes were popular for a short time years ago too until the cops got kinda nasty about them. Â

There was then if it looks good in the back then all 4 corners have to be good lift. And the if a little chrome is good then if ya chrome everything its better. Those god awful color and stripe combos of the pro street movement.

My buds were the exact opposite. Everyone had to be so low they scraped the oil pan on railroad tracks. Oh, and Vette, TA and Z 28 wheels. EVERYBODY had to put them on their cars.

Re: Fads come and go
I just thought of another "fad" from my younger years. Running pinstripes across the window defogger lines. (Again this is something I never did)
