Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
Yes! It must be Christmas!! My dash is back from Just Dashes and man it looks GREAT!! Yes, it was costly, but that is the one thing that you have to sit and look at whenever you drive. It is 1973 Dark Saddle, but I had the paint shop custom mix the dye and tweak it a little when the interior was done, so they(Just Dashes) color matched it to the ashtray I sent them. The seat covers that I bought from OPGI were a little more reddish than the rest of the original interior plastic. That is why I had the custom mix done, to better match the newly upholstered seats. Great choice. Very nice! They do an awesome job. Couldn't believe how nice it was when mine came back.

Re: Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
The turnaround time was about 6 weeks. It is almost impossible to find an uncracked dash in the land of summer 120 degree days and winter nights at 30 degrees, they just self implode!! if you do find one the seller would want 4 or 5 hundred anyway, my dash was right at 700.00 and as much as I am going to look at it, I think that's worth it!

Thanks, guys! Hey 74malibu383, I saw your dash at the McDonalds cruise last year,,and it looks great! I asked you if it was a 79.00 coverlay before I got to really look at it. Now I know you can tell right away if it is, because they dont fit around the vents very well. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!

Re: Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
You can either customize or go the Just Dashes route but whatever you do- don't waste the $100 on a dash cap. They su*k.

Re: Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
Well, $700 is a lot more palatable than the $1K I've always heard it costs. Do they have just one price for our dashes? Or, is every dash subject to quotation?
I agree about the dash caps. Every one I've seen look kinda tacky...including the one in my Laguna. Kinda humorous, though, as even the cap is cracked...Sheesh!

Re: Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
I used the dash cap, and like mentioned, it's not perfect, but I painted the old dash around the vent openings before I fitted the cap, so it's not so bad looking.

I remember talking to you as well. Good to see you on here! Yeah, I bought a cap first, and it was awful.

Re: Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
Mine did that + worse on the vent by the R door. It didn't even reach the defroster vents up top. I had them "delete" the center speaker holes so maybe that's why but even the grain was wrong & the sides did not match up correctly either. Where'd you get yours 74malibu?

Re: Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
Hi all. Getting ready to send in my dash to them for recovering. What did you use for a box to ship it in? I am planning to build a box from 2x2s and thin plywood. I don't wanna over do it but I definitely do not wanna under do it.

Re: Just Dashes - 1973 Chevelle SS dash
I just shipped an undamaged dash to a guy in TN. He should have gotten it by last Friday...but, haven't heard anything from him yet as to how it arrived.
What I did was buy some shrink wrap and "cocooned" it with many layers. Then, fabricated a cardboard box. Put some packing inside where needed to keep it from shifting around. I can tell you the box ended up being about 62" x 18" x 13" and weighing around 35 lbs.
I also received a dash from a guy in CA who had his company's shipping dept. pack it and it also came in a larger cardboard box...with lots of paper packing stuffed around it. It arrived in good shape.

Holy s--t...business must be good! Add the incoming/outgoing freight and you've got more invested in that dash than many of us paid for our cars!
