radiator cap with zinc anode
National Parts Depot has a radiator cap, with a sacrificial zinc anode attached to it. I just ordered another one ($14.95) for the El Camino project. I have had one in my Malibu for about 6 years, and it keeps the radiator nice & clean inside FYI. The part number is 952-16 if anyone is interested.

Re: radiator cap with zinc anode
Thanks, I had a feeling as no one really talks about anodes & cathodes with corrosion being involved.
& Thanks for the part number Pila. Good stuff to know.

Re: radiator cap with zinc anode
OK, here's a pic of the cap. It's a 16 lb cap by the way. I'm likely gonna put one in my wife's Buick & my Chevy pickup also. It has a the spring-looking thing which extends the anode down into the radiator about 8 inches, into the coolant

Re: radiator cap with zinc anode
Here's a pic of the package tab. It shows an aluminum water neck, with corrosion pits where the hose was clamped on.
I guess they are claiming that corrosive acids are removed with the anode...
Sorry it's not readable etc...
