1973 Monte Carlo 454 @ Mecum Houston, TX Auction
This is the 1st second generation Monte I've ever seen come up @ Mecum since I've been following their auctions.
Looks really nice too.

Re: 1973 Monte Carlo 454 @ Mecum Houston, TX Auction
this is funny.
i had visions in my head of redoing my 73 just this way.
dont like the aftermarket door gaurds tho
if it only had a power skyroof it would be fully loaded.
full restoration????? they forgot to put the grill emblem back on,and they used a faded out piece of for the deck lid. oh yea! why cant anyone get tailpipes even?
sorry if i picked it apart to much

Yeah- but you still like it I bet. Isn't Kyles that color combo? It is a nice look.
It's funny I think the engine bay looks crappy. I don't want to offend anyone so apologies in advance- I just can't stand some of the valve covers & Air lids with the big a$$ corporate logos. I'd bring that car back to stock in there- as far as how it looks.

I would put it back to stock in there too. They also didnt put on any landau window trim. I would take those freaking dumb floor mats and throw them in the woods with my defective breather. Why do they all have the bump on the dash over the speedometer? Mines got it too. (the 73) I like it though ,Id buy it if I was there, why not have another.

Nice
But theres no Opera trim either.
Chris' 454 is factory looking except for the dual snorkel air cleaner.

My 73 Monte dash had that bump too just not as noticeable. The one in the pic looks warped & it looks af if the dash bezel might even be installed wrong on the plastic pieces that screw in to the bottom of the dashpad or they are damaged, maybe?

Mines exactly the same way. Maybe just bad manufacturing but it annoys me.

There's not getting around that out of all these cars the Chevy dash pads are by far the worst. What were they when they thought up the center speaker with no reinforcing?

You can phone bid- but you pay a higher commission rate to them- they have all that info on their site. It might be cheaper to do it over the phone vs plane tix, hotel, etc...
Honestly- I think this car will be about 10k tops (& probably less)- It might get more at an event like Kissimmee FL or one of their other bigger events like Indianapolis. Depends on the owners reserve too- some guys have high expectations but still end up taking the highest bid just to get rid of the car. So, it could be a deal...who knows?

For whatever reason, A LOT of 73's have the warped spot over the gauges, and a small indent on the ride side that faces the passenger side before the center vents. I see it in pictures all the time, as well as my 73 pad in my 76.

I dont mind it so much since it seems to be a factory flaw and not just a random defect, lol

Really?!!!! I'm proud of you, LOL.
Too bad the reserve wasn't lifted. But I can't blame the owner- it's a nice car. I'd bet he was looking for $15k.
