go get the cheap chrome alternator brackets. You can use the same Small block alternator. AC big block pulleys are common, start calling local salvages saying that you need pulleys and powersteering brackets for a mid 70s chevy truck, when they ask the engine say, 454. If you call asking for big block chevy brackets they will laugh and say no and will do the same for chevelles with big blocks.

SBC brackets will not work on a BBC. You can make your own brackets if you got the skills.

I know you don't want to spend too much money, but this would be the way to go. All of the brackets plus switch to serpentine.

Kits include:
* Bolts, nuts, spacers, and brackets
* Water pump with pulley
* Crankshaft pulley
* Serpentine belt
* Alternator
* Drive belt tensioner assembly
* Power steering pulley
Add up the pricing for junkyard stuff plus a new alternator & water pump & you're not saving much money at all.

as of a few years ago, all the brackets were available new from GM- under $50 for PS and alternator brackets for an early 80's pickup.
