Re: New guy here from Florida
I have the alternator bracket he's talking about on my car. Its not one of the ones you pictured. It mounts to the water pump and the t-stat housing.

Re: New guy here from Florida
you and me both for some awful reason it never lines up correctly, its the worst one ever but, but id like to get a set but not sure if my heads have the correct bolt holes for a different set, and thinking of doing some electric fans what do you guys think?

Re: New guy here from Florida
If you look at mine, i had to oval out the mounting hole at the thermostat to make it fit correctly. Â Any modern set of heads ( ie no '60's vintage camel humps) should have the needed heads. Â My "74 motor has "84 heads on it and all needed holes were there. Â i have a mechanical fan so i can't comment on the electric fan question.

Re: New guy here from Florida
In my case the Alt bolt is way up on the slide opening- maybe you don't have it on there tight enough for the correct "slack" on the belt? You should only have about 1/2" of "deflection" in the belt. Lines up very well & doesn't use the T-stat bolt.

Here's a pair with the integral shroud from a 98-02 LS1 Camaro:
They fit like a glove and do a fantastic job when paired with this controller:
Flex-a-Lite 33054
They move a lot more air than the stock fan, so the stock radiator is more than enough. I also got to toss the stock shroud, which gives me more working room.

Re: New guy here from Florida
cars running good except it started misfiring like a mofo, tried to time it but it was no good still getting a misfire, any ideas i believe it to be the timing or wires

Re: New guy here from Florida
I had that happen last summer, had the #4 & 3 wires on the opposite terminals. Double check & make sure they're on correctly. Did you take the distributor out? If so- double check that the rotor & #1 terminal are lined up correctly.

Re: New guy here from Florida
what do u mean lined up for #1? yes i took it off to change rotors as mine broke

Re: New guy here from Florida
Take the cap off & turn the engine until the rotor points at #1 at the top of the compression stroke before you fire it up. The compression stroke is when you feel air coming out of the #1 cylinders' spark plug hole when the plug is out. When you put the cap back on make sure the terminal you are using for the #1 wire lines up with the rotor underneath it also. You might have to remove & reinstall the Distributor if it's not lined up properly. Remember to remove the negative cable from your battery terminal also before removing the Dist.

Re: New guy here from Florida
Sounds like the timing is still off & you got a backfire?

Re: New guy here from Florida
yeah i do, im down a timing light so i do it by ear, now the bolts to my hei top wont screw down, 1 is suppose to ground the coil but if its too long it will tear up my rotor

Re: New guy here from Florida
well got a new starter cause my burshings were bad and i only paid 12 bucks for it cant beat that with a stick! but has anyone cut the metal bars on the bottom of the car? the headers are being a b*** again so I wanna just cut them off and be done with it, i think its the stabailzer or something like that.

Re: New guy here from Florida
Those bars that connect the front crossmember (under engine) to the frame sides are frame stiffeners. I dont run them but would like too but I dont think they would fit with my headers. They do unbolt instead of cutting them. I'd run them if you can.

Re: New guy here from Florida
I had to remove the driver side for my Headers

Re: New guy here from Florida
I made a new drivers side one that was longer and bent around the header. I went to home depot bought a steel pipe that was similar diameter, heated and bent it. Â Finally flattened and drilled the ends. Â The pass side fits OK.
