I believe they went to long water pumps in the late 60s (?)
A '68 327 I have has a long pump.

If I remember correctly the changeover took place in '69. Short water pump setups usually have the water pump on the drivers side of the engine. Long water pump cars have the alternator on the passenger side of the engine. My buddy has an all original 68 RS camaro which has the short pump and alt on the drivers side.
