Re: 1975 malibu grill
Idk the answer to your specific question but I will mention that a '74 grille will fit and the emblems are easily removed.

Re: 1975 malibu grill
I'm pretty sure 74 & 75 are almost identical. The 75 has the little spot at the top/center for the "Chevelle emblem (which can be removed but the recess for the emblem will remain), whereas the 74 grill is smooth in that area & the "Chevelle" is a large emblem on the bottom driver side. Both 74 & 75 are pot metal w/ chrome they're nice sturdy grilles...76 & 77 are plastic and are fragile & brittle.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: 1975 malibu grill
I can speak for the '74. The two emblems bolt on (center bowtie + chevelle emblem). You can remove them and you would never know they were ever there. I think a '75 grille is a little less "beefy" than a '74 but idk 100%.77mali wrote:I'm pretty sure 74 & 75 are almost identical. Re: 1975 malibu grill
I have a 75 grille (trying to sell my restored 76 grille) LOL. The 75 is very heavy compared to 76/77 (& the 76 & 77's are one year only styles that are totally different than each other).
74

75

I guess that they look more different than I thought

Re: 1975 malibu grill
I've always liked the looks of the '76/'77 grilles over the '74/'75. (Plus they are way lighter.. I'm still a racer at heart). I even painted a spare '74 grille (currently on my car) to look like one. I'd ask you how much your looking for, but I a currently sooo broke it ain't funny.77mali wrote:I have a 75 grille (trying to sell my restored 76 grille) LOL. Re: 1975 malibu grill
Here's a pic of the 76 that I redid in flat black

If you want it PM me your email, I have more pics & if you decide you want it, you can pay when you have the extra $$. I'm just looking to get back my original cost, plus shipping.

Re: 1975 malibu grill
I Have a '74 grille that needs a re-chrome, but I like the way you painted that one. I have a '77 grille that I was intending to use, in my '75 Elco, but the top trim for it isn't in very good shape, so I may try painting the '74 part.
Thanks for the idea !!

Re: 1975 malibu grill
Glad you like it. It was sandblasted ,Etch primed, and painted with duplicolor ceremic engine enamel. The colors are semigloss black and aluminum silver.

Hey dynchel, does the black part your grill come apart from the other?

Re: 1975 malibu grill
No its one piece, and excessively heavy. I used fine line tape to make the transision. I mentioned that it was sandblasted, this is key to making the paint stick and not chip. (Anyone who's ever painted over chrome will know all about the consequences of in proper surface prep)

Re: 1975 malibu grill

heres a close up of the tape line. I like very minimal the chrome bumpers are enough for me.

I did something similar to the tail lights. Basically I painted my '74 lights in the '73 SS style.

Re: 1975 malibu grill
I am about to do that as well since all the chrome has came off of the passenger side one. It looks good on yours and will go well with the theme I have got started.
