Re: my new grille
I'm not sure i liked it, so I removed it. Maybe when i get the bowtie for the center it won't look so out of place. Also yes i do believe the original application had a engine designation (seperate emblem)

Re: my new grille
I think it would look good with the bowtie and the flags in the corner. I like the polished look of the new grill, but I love the lines of the 74.

I think the 350 and cross flag's would look real nice on there.

Re: my new grille
Originally the gold center bowtie & grille combo is from a 76 Elco

No center bow tie on a Malibu just the "MC" emblem

I think once you do the bow-tie, it'll look pretty killer.

Re: my new grille
I didn't know that...I gave you some cred for schooling me today. I just want it to look cool (and hopefully like it could possibly have come from the factory like that.). Like a muscle car that never was....

Re: my new grille
I'd say it looks better. I may leave the flags off and just run the bowtie.....or maybe i'll dig that "350" emblem out of storage and try that.
idk how it will eventually end up as i am very pickey.

This grille piece would also look really good with the Cross Flags

Re: my new grille
What is that from? I'm thinking '70/'73? I was looking at those on eBay, did you ever see what some people want for used emblems? I'm not even talking about "rare" ones, just normal Malibu, chevelle, etc (most of which are reproduced) so why you would spend $35.00 (or more) plus shipping for a used one is beyond me.

Re: my new grille
I have a Grille emblem that sez El Camino. Doesn't fit the '77 grille in mine. I'll give it to anyone who pays the postage. It may be from a '73 (??)
It has the retainer bar across the back

Re: my new grille
Hey bill, if you want to use that emblem i can tell you how i did the crossed flag emblem (which did'nt fit) i drilled and tapped a 1/4in thick piece of aluminum for 1/4 20 stud. lock tited the stud into the piece of aluminum. finally i jb welded the piece to the back of the emblem. finally i made a backing plate (to straddle the plastic grille). easy.

Re: my new grille
Looks good with the blacked out grille. I have a 1976 base grille that I want to black out for my '76. Did you prime the grille before you painted? What was the exact paint that you used (I am assuming just spray can)? I think the black is perfect.

Re: my new grille
i scuffed up the chrome part, and dusted on a little black primer, (after a good cleaning with prep sol) Finally I used krylon plastic paint, the color is satin black.
