questions on remote mirrors Empty questions on remote mirrors

Post by bitterfitter Fri May 30, 2014 6:55 am

I have 2 remote drivers side mirrors that both have different remote ends on them. One comes straight out the end and still has the chrome door panel bezel on it. The other comes out 90 degrees from the cable. Will both of these work for my 1974 Chevelle? I do not remember which one came out of the car and I am not sure how the one with the 90 degree end on it would fit into a bezel?

Every one I've ever removed from a G3 has the control knob at a 90 degree angle to the cable. It's held onto the back of the door panel bezel by a roughly 3/4" square, flat clip. If the other one you have has a door bezel on it, I don't see why it couldn't be used, too.

My problem is that the one with the bezel is damaged in the area where it mounts to the car. The one with the 90 degree control is great , but I am not familiar with how this mounts in the door panel. It has no bezel around it and I am not sure how it would attach to the bezel?

Except that one looks broken.

The blue arrows indicate the posts where it gets attached to the door panel with speed nuts -- the top one is missing.

The red arrows indicate the slot where the squarish clip (also missing) is inserted to retain the actual mirror control knob.

Mike, if your other mirror is good, I'll get you a Bezel and clip...and show you how it goes together.

I guess my bezel is different. I may need some other parts here. Shame cause the mirror is nice....

I just pointed it out so anyone who hadn't seen one didn't get the impression it was supposed to be that way, especially since the guy selling it is billing it as "A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item". Smile

I know that if there's anyone who knows what they should look like, it's you. Smile
