Edelbrock carb sticking at idle.
New engine runs great and the power difference is unbelievable, but there is an issue with the carb. It is an Edelbrock Performer 750 and seems to be running great, but at idle or when you let out of the pedal all the way and try to take off again you have to force it or kind of break it loose. I thought it was the spring at first, but I took it off and it did the same thing. Any ideas?

Re: Edelbrock carb sticking at idle.
A throttle plate, in one of the primary bores needs to be centered. I believe you could break the screws loose just a little, and close the throttle to let the plate ( or both plates ) center themselves, and then tighten the screws. The screws are usually staked on the ends, to keep them from getting loose, but you may be able to break them loose enough to center the throttle plates.

Re: Edelbrock carb sticking at idle.
Are you referring to the butterflies? I am not sure that a throttle plate is.

Re: Edelbrock carb sticking at idle.
Yeah, butterflies are nick-names for the throttle plates....
Is that a new carb ? If it is, maybe you can get another new one on warranty. If not, try centering the plates.

Re: Edelbrock carb sticking at idle.
Try disconnecting the cable from the carb and see if it moves freely. At least tehn you can isolate if its the cable or the carb.

I'm thinking that something is wrong with the accelerator cable... Slight kink, good idea mentioned above to isolate the carb or the cable, let us know what you find out!

Re: Edelbrock carb sticking at idle.
Either hook up the keyed supplied power choke wire or back off the choke spring as this is what is "snapping it shut". You can just force open the choke butterfly and tie it back its all connected and needs to be addressed.

It seems like he just doesn't want to mess with that pesky choke. Re: Edelbrock carb sticking at idle.
I wanted to use it, just didn't have a wire to try it out. It will be a big help this winter. The weekend was so busy that I barely had time to blink.  I plan on trying it out soon, I just have to get some wire and a few of those clips to connect it.  I've always been scared of messing with electrical stuff.  Afraid I might mess something up and burn my beloved to the ground.  Don't want to do that.  I think I can handle this though.  Just gotta find some time.
