If you had 10K for a car...
...What would you look for?
We all have a good idea of what we would get if we had an unlimited budget, and we all know that a good G3 can be had for less.
So let's say you have a good DD, you're out of debt and have a healthy savings acct. All of your grown up responsibilities are covered, your G3 is "finished" and you have 10k to play with.

And I got lost there. So I don't get to spend the 10k on the Monte? I'm not wrapping my head around that one...

They ain't never finished.
But your Monte is in Paint Jail for the next two years cuz you are getting that dream paint job you want for free.

I should be so lucky. I haven't even made it to paint jail yet because we finally found a house we want, and we've taken a detour onto that roller coaster first. So the next step is to settle where the Monte's going to live first before I can commit to paint.

So you aren't playing?
I've had this bad thing lately about...gulp...late 50s early 60s Galaxie. Don't tell anybody.
Also would love to get my hands on a 62 Impala/Bel Air/Biscayne...tough to find decent for 10 k though.

I still have a custom laguna for sale as I can't seam to find the time to work on it. Id sell it to you for 5K that's about 1/2 of what I have into it for parts alone. That would give you 5k left to finish interior and paint. The two things that make it your own car.

Sure, I'll play. Not sure of the rules, though, so:
1. If we're talking just another G3, I'd be interested in the 76-77 Grand Prix, 76-77 Cutlass, or maybe a Laguna.
2. If we're talking anything at all, it's hard to pin down because there are a lot of things I like out there, but we'll narrow it down to a 67 Galaxie, a 55 Dodge pickup, or a 67 Corvair convertible for the wife.

Thanks, John, I had not seen that one! I'll bet the wheelstands are impressive, assuming it doesn't simply shear off those measly 4 lugs. Probably best it's not a ragtop -- it would just suck the passengers into the intake.

Re: If you had 10K for a car...
Ladies do love a convertible...if they haven't just had their hair cut, or if it's not too hot. Or if it's not too cold. Or if it MIGHT rain this month, or if the top isn't too hard to get down, or if they aren't stopping anywhere, or if their friends might see them, or if...

$10,000 should buy a nice ride.
This will probably get my account suspended but how about a '70 Plymouth Duster 340-6 pack, in Plum Crazy purple?
or
a GMC van just like the A-Team?

If you watched the silly episode of Gas Monkey last night, Aaron said he would like to build that van someday.

Re: If you had 10K for a car...
By far the hardest part would be finding the right van. No side windows, sliding door = 30 year old work truck. Plus those vans (at least in ohio) were rotted ten years out.

Didn't most of the Chevy vans in that era have those little portholes on the side? Seem to remember them having dragons and wizards and s*** all over them

Those port holes were a custom add on.

The pictured van isn't that accurate, the black should be satin, the mirrors are wrong, & I don't see any side exhaust under the running boards.

There is apparently one running around here -- I have seen it twice now on the highway that encircles the city, but never at a show.
