Ignition switch Empty Ignition switch

My ignition switch is at the end of it's life cycle. I have to twist to the end to get it to work. Anyone changed theirs in a 73 before?

You mean the ignition lock cylinder? Cause the "switch" is bolted to the lower column. If it's the cylinder you'll need the key, disconnect the battery, put the key in, turn it forward, there is a small access hole in the column, insert a pick into the hole and push the locking tab/pin upwards, and the cylinder should slide out.

So there is a contact adjustment? That is what appears to be the issue. Do I just slide the switch on the column?

There are oblong holes on the switch it self. You can slide it on the column by just loosening the 2 screws but you have to drop the column to do it.

A word of CAUTION....If you drop the column away from the dash a bit, to get access, be sure to un-clip the little cable that moves the shift indicator. They and not easy to find ! The cable is clipped to the housing that the shift lever is mounted in. You will see it if you look for it.......
