Look closely at the gauges.

Yes they were pretty common on 76 & 77 cars.  Maybe even on some 75's?  I think a few guys on here have that gauge in there set ups.  They were on Chevelle's, Monte's and even Elco's I think.  Shouldn't be too hard to find one ... question is why?  Most folks would rather have a tach and I'm pretty sure a tach will interchange in the gauge pod with minimal or no fuss.

Maybe Mcarlo77 can confirm that last bit but I'm almost certain that I've read that a few times on here.

I got these in a pile of other stuff I bought. I'd never heard of it in a 70s car.

Silly me.

My '86 caprice classic had a fuel economy gauge... Probably the stupidest thing to monitor except maybe the "tuner" boys and their air fuel ratio  gauges.

I'm diggin it in my Focus. Every time I hit 40 MPG, I hear some guy at OPEC squeal a little bit.

Yeah. I said Focus. Flame on.

I had no idea they had something like that in the 70's. I can see why they would have, but surprised just the same.

I thought it was only the Chevys that had these...until, a few weeks ago I came across one laying inside a '74 Grand Am. Got home and Googled it...sure enough, Pontiac did offer them in place of the large clock or tach. I believe much more rare than on the Chevys.

My 75 Toronado I had back in the day had a small one to the right of the speedo...it was just there as a distraction so you wouldn't notice the fuel gauge drop every time you hit the gas.

It goes to any full engine vacuum. Not ported like above the throttle plate on a carb.

My step dad's AMC Matador had one. No idea what year it was, but it was in the 70's. One very ugly car.

Agree. If I use the gauges (doubt that I will) I'd replace it with a tach.

Might be better to just ebay it to someone who might want it for a stock resto.

EXACTLY Why I left mine in there I have had multiple offers for tachometer clusters, But want to keep the way it came, Beside I have a SunPro II tachometer I am going to use, Just need to make a final decision where to mount

Limey, same tach I'm running. Mine is on my column. It came mounted there when I bought the car in '82. Still works great.
