My trip to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run
It started a little later than usual. In the past years we've left around 4am but with just my son and I going this time we did not feel it necessary to get there Thursday before noon. Wednesday night I loaded the car and excursion and got up at 6am Thursday and left out. It was a uneventful ride down, getting texts from all my friends asking where we were. It's a slow ride with the 5.4 excursion with some age to it so I didn't want to push it. This was taken climbing a hill.

Here is the Malibu being tugged along for the ride.

Made a stop for some snacks just outside of Jacksonville, FL.

So we made it around 2pm, unloaded the car and had some lunch. Pork Chop and fried mac and cheese from porky's. That place is my favorite and that is the small chop.

Unloaded, parked and ate then headed to the condo.

What a view. From here you can see A1A for the night time burnouts and then the beach.

Then to Bel Aire plaza. If you know about Bel Aire, if not it is the spot for the original Turkey Rod Run 43 years ago. It started out as a get together in this parking lot and just exploded from there.

And here are some photos I took.

My sons blog will have a complete coverage of the event at driftundertheradar.com in a few days. Here is a milestone we hit on the way back. Looking forward to spring even though the event won't be as big it is still Daytona, cars and fun. If you click on the two small pics they are video's of a couple neat cars.

Your car looks awesome, Damon! Nice to see some other G3's there, too.
Envy your ability to still go to car shows this time of year. Car show season has long since expired up here in the Northland.

Looks like it was a blast Damon. I too an envious of the fact that you can still go to car shows this late in the year. Mcarlo77 and I both live in a state that isn't friendly to late November cruising. The last one I went on was the middle of October and it was a 200 miler to view the fall colors.
Glad you didn't sell it now sir?

Well, I did have to go 435 miles south to get warm clear weather to do this. We have entered a pattern here where it is sunny and cool for a couple days then overcast and rain for the rest of the week.
