Started assembling my sport mirrors. They've been wrapped and boxed since I painted the car. In the box I found this part. The holes line up with the studs on the bottom of the mirror. I dont remember removing it from the car. Do I need it? Or is this just something for "remote" mirror side since I only have one of these. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Definitely doesn't look like the RH remote brackets I've removed. They are long and rectangular...and, have a large hole in the center for the cable.

That looks like a Chevy Nova bracket for the sport mirror. I agree with Mcarlo re malibu bracket. See pic. I believe these Nova sport mirrors were sometimes transplanted onto 1973 Malibus.

76Chevelle2Tone, thats definitely the same bracket. I dont recall where I got it from. Guess I'll just put it in the box of extra things. Funny how you stumble upon things. Thanks for all the replies.

Joe are you the original owner of the 73 or did you buy it used? I don't believe that Chevy made a RH sport mirror in 73 for the Malibu which is why people took the one from the Nova. It works but is not an exact fit. Is your RH sport a later part or a 73 Nova part? If you are not the first owner, they might have connected it that way which is how you have the part.

Im not the original owner. I bought the car in 1982. Ive parted out 10 other 73 cars. So I have misc. parts and things around. I dont know how I came upon that parts but its definitely not from my car. So to the parts stash it goes.

Doesnt it install on the inside of the door under the mirror mount?
