Well it says "needs restoration engine" so either the original 454 is long gone or it's a hunk of dead metal. How much does an original 454 V8 cost these days? And of course no matching numbers although I don't know how important that is to people anymore. It is important to me and my Chevelle but I am an outlier on this site so ...

RED FLAG ALERT!

Looking at photos 2 & 3 posted by FumiyoG3, #2 has the car sporting black-wall tires with a "clean" door whereas #3 has two flat whitewall tires with – what appears to be – a rust spot on the center of the door. Although the two different hues, albeit subtle, of paint on the door are consistant in both photos. I can tell you that the car's location, Victorville, is in an arid region of SoCal so other than surface rust like what's seen in the photos, I wouldn't expect terminal cancer underneath.

Ad says it hasn't been registered for many years. If that spot on the door is a rust spot that formed since the other photo was taken, who knows how many years?

FWIW, registration here in Komiefornia is very expensive; big surprise. For my Monte Carlo this year, it's $150.00, of that, 1$ is base on the assessed value of the car which is tax deductible, the other $149 are "you get to live in Komiefornia" fees which are not deductible. One of the few things that's inexpensive is registering a car as nonoperational, a.k.a., NONOP or PNO; it's a onetime fee of only about $20. Once you put the car back on the road, you simply pay the current year's fee. Unfortunately, cars like this – seemingly abandoned – are rarely NONOPed.

It took a while to get here but, if the titled owner didn't NONOP the car and simply let the registration lapse, the back fees, with late fees, will need to be paid before the title is transferrable which can add up to some big bucks, so, be sure to figure that into negotiations.

Other weird thing is that the ad placed 3 wks ago lists a price at $2500. Ad placed 15 hrs ago lists it at $4500. Typo, maybe?

Agreed Mcarlo,

Definitely weird. Wonder , if it is a scam.

But , if real car......What is it worth to pick up a mostly rust free "canvas" to your thing!!!

Even splitting it in the middle at $3500....for a car that is "all there".

If it had been up three weeks and $2500 was the number.....shoulda been gone some time ago......

I agree about being swept up at $2500 if everything was copesthetic. Unless the 454 is locked up, someone would have bought it just for the engine.

Mcarlo,
The Facebook ad specifically says another engine will be needed. The only reason to get this IMO would be a badly rusted skin on the buyer car.

I saw that...but, in the other ad it says it needs a new timing chain.  Explanation might be the first ad stated it needed a replacement engine. Newest ad now says it only needs a timing chain. Seller must have hiked the price claiming the engine didn't need replacing afterall. Too many questions without hands-on inspection to consider this from afar.
