Introducing me&my project 73 Monte Carlo (if I can get the pictures to load) S5032314

Hey guys, I will try and post some pics of my newest project Monte, its a rust free Arizona car that I purchased from the granddaughter of the original owner. It was purchased new at Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix, 350/4,paint code 60 copper, trashed white top, swivel buckets and tach/gauges. Still has the chrome dealer license plate frame from new. The car is still in AZ storage, I need to bring it back to IL.

Anyway, this is not my first 73 Monte, I have had a few. My first car was a black 73 454 Landau with red interior back in '91. I had a 73 Malibu for my first winter car while the Monte stayed dry.

A 74 SJ 455 Grand Prix was my next nice A body, fully loaded white with black top and interior, and a power roof.

I love the 73-77 A body's and hope to post pics of my project in the future.

Thanks 74MonteCarlo! I forgot to mention I drove it about 12 miles in REVERSE with plates that expired in 03 to my mothers house for storage. My buddies thought I was going to jail that 115 degree day. The grandaugther neglected to tell me about the blown trans, I made it a 4000rpm block from her house in drive, and whipped a U turn in reverse the rest of the way.

Anyone ever seen this BAD red 73? I think it is from the Austin TX area.

I like the copper/gold color...you don't see many in that color. Don't see many MC's with those wheels covers, either. Very neat.

74MonteCarlo, I thought the same thing on the color, it will be repainted the original Poly Copper code 60, same as Valencia Gold for Pontiacs.

No vinyl top, they are a love/hate relationship for me.

Limey, Thanks, I'm not far in Huntley 60142

Thanks ant7377, your 77 is a good example of how I want my 73 to look, very clean.

Got any pics of that black on black 73? My first one had Center Line Auto Drags and Protracs. Wish I had some pics.

This time it will be 17" Center Lines.

Is that yours too? I saw it on Ebay, 454 right. Nice car, my 73 has a 454 too.

Heres a pic at the GM nationals show at Carlisle PA last summer with my wife and I next to it

No the Ebay 73 is not mine, I saved the pic for a reference for the Center Lines. I really didnt like the color combo with the green interior. If it was a black/black or silver/black car I would probably own it now.

Your 73 looks perfect with the Vette rallys!

Wish it was easy to find a 100% rust free original black/black 73 Monte.

Sounds good Limey, let me know.

I might pick up the Monte this summer, 1844 miles x2 door to door. If I get my wishes I will have a 24x30 attached garage built starting this spring to build it in.

When I first saw this Monte, I didnt think they offered a gold/copper paint in 73. When I checked the paint code 60 I bought it because I want the car to wear its original color. I need to add the p/windows&locks. I have never seen a build sheet for a Monte with so few options, I think it has five options total. 350/4,A/C, buckets, guages, full white top, built in Arlington TX, which seems rare looking at other Montes VINs.

I will always hold an originally black 73 454 Monte as the ultimate, I would take it over any Chevelle,Camaro, Nova or any other muscle car. This is my forth '73 in the last twenty years, and I have owned 50-60 cars in that time. Most all 70's and 80's GM, a few 69's and a 99 B4C Camaro police car.

Where did that copper Monte end up? Parts car?

the other chris's 73 monte was silver with full black top and air, buckets, tilt with 350/350. no other options.
mine came with every option except factory tac,and posi. i have since added the tac and gauges with factory harness,p/trunk release. i have a passenger remote mirror that i goning to put on it soon.

there is a green 73 here in cleveland has NO options.well only a full vinyl top and a 2 barrel 350.

To get no options it would have to be one of (I think 4900) Monte Sport Coupes? It would have to have no vinyl top, no A/C and a manual trans.

I had a Landau with a power roof, nice but leaked=rust.

Chris picked a good color for his Monte, you cant go wrong with the red jewel, brandywine color on a 2nd gen Monte.

Three on the tree is fun to drive IMO, he took a rare Monte and made it like the other 99.5% of them.

That red 502 '73 Monte is awesome, wish I could find more pics of it.
